How I Started:
I had always enjoyed working out. A few years ago I got a personal trainer and just started learning more. Due to scheduling, school & commute issues haven't been able to work out like I really wanted to.
Why I Love It:
The sense of health and strength that goes with working out is great. I like being a strong woman that can hold her own.
How I Stay Motivated:
Still working on that one :)
I enjoy it and once I'm there, I'm all about it! It also helps that my hubby is 110% supportive!

This was back in 2003, probably close to my heaviest, not including pregnancy, which was 196 lbs. I had no idea I was so fat! I knew I wasn't skinny, but didn't realize how much of a chunk I was!
I was 185 lbs before I got pregnant, hit 202.5 lbs with pregnancy, and am now 165 lbs. Lost the weight due to nursing, and yes as you can see I'm still nursing! I'm flabby, with loose arms and not nearly enough muscle definition for me. But I'm not as bad as I was. This is what really motivated me, ...
To lower my cholesterol, lose fat, gain muscle and be 150 lbs by September 1st with a body fat % less than 30.
Goal (Long):
I've never been skinny. Never really wanted to be skinny. My muscles are big and I have a layer of fat over them right now. My entire life I always thought that being this way was the way I was meant to be. After giving birth and being 17 lbs lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, I began to see that it is possible for me to be healthy and fit.
Now I want to be defined, a role model for my daughter and someone who hold her own at the gym with the guys in the free weight section.
I want to shoot for 150 lbs now, and then later on go for 140, perhaps 135, with a body fat % around 20%.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 25 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
20%

How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
Fitness & being healthy is just one of the many things that my husband & I can talk about. Especially right now as he is going to be having surgery to rule out thyroid cancer. It has really hit home just how important our health is.Fitness & being healthy is just one of the many things that my husband & I can talk about. Do you have any type of chronic disease or condition?
Yes
What is it?
Hyperlipidemia aka high cholesterol
How does fitness help you with your condition? What do you have to do differently in your program since you have this condition?
I don't have to do anything special workout-wise. I'm hoping that by lowering my body fat, my numbers will improve & I won't have to resort to medication again.

Since you've been working out, taking supplements and eating right, how often do you get sick (cold, flu, etc.)?
So throughout life, there are moments of fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of change, fear of success, fear of crowded places, etc. You get my drift. You name it and there is probably someone out there who is afraid of it. So what am I afraid of right now? The scale. Plain and...
that's too much to deal with. I wish you well and pray all goes better for you and your husband. Don't let depression get a hold (I've been there, it's bad). right now you need to be super human, sounds like your family needs you to be positive and strong. If you can just muster up just enough mental energy to start a workout, you might find it's the best medicine right now. You and your family are in my prayers.
I'm doing ok. My mother in law is very ill and we have been taking care of her that's why I haven't been online much. I was doing great with my eating and exercise. Haven't had time to exercise the past week. I didn't give up though. How are you?
Yep, it is just a number. I hope doing cardio before ur leg workout helps. Make sure that you stretch, ur legs and calves, for at least five minutes before you do ur cardio. Also, make sure that u stretch the same five minutes afterwards before u move onto the weights. This should help ur muscles to work better for ya!! Do u have any other cardio questions that u could use help with?
well, I usually do cardio in the mornings because of PT for the Army. So, I usually spend a straight hour to hour and a half on just the weights with my legs. I have to work on rebuilding strength in my right knee while maintaining cardio. I am having to go every other day with cardio until I am completely pain-free everyday from running? But doing cardio before is good for u!! How is ur progress coming along?
My workouts are going fairly well. Did legs today after doing cardio and muscle failure for PT this morning. A little sore, but otherwise, feeling good. What type of leg exercises do u do for ur legs?
you will want the gps if you ever do cardio outside, which you may. my cardio routine today is so diff from what it was ten years ago and it would be cool to be able to go back in time and only buy the stuff that i would use over time.
