I had worked out in college, but my boyfriend (at the time) did not appreciate the fact that I was more "fit" than he. I stopped for a few years.
Then, another boyfriend (who was incredibly fit) asked me how interested I was in fitness. He encouraged me to pursue my passion...working out with weights. Some would call me an "iron addict."
Why I Love It:
Watching my muscles grow! Feeling the strength surge through my body! The adrenaline rush of completing a heavy set! The look I attain through strength training...anyone can completely transform his/her body!
How I Stay Motivated:
Not only is it my hobby to work out, but it is also my career! I foresee "fitness" as a lifetime pursuit of mine...who knows, maybe I'll write a book, compete in figure, and train others to compete!
My goal is to become the most fit trainer I can be...a good example to my clients.
Goal (Long):
Since I want to be fully prepared physically, mentally, and financially for competition, I am working towards competing as my goal!
Steps:
1) I am working to get my bodyfat in the 12-16% range.
2) I am starting the Anabolic Diet on Labor Day 2009.
3) I am going to use periodized plans for my workout.
4) I am reading EVERYTHING I can about Figure Competition.
5) I have hired a nutritional consultant and figure coach.
Do you track your workouts (exercises, weight, reps, etc.)?
Yes
If so, how do you do it? Workout log, software program, etc.? Why do you do it this way?
Workout log. I need to track my record, so it will give me a baseline. How can I improve my workouts from this point?

Do you tell your friends and/or family about your fitness goals?
Yes
Why or why not?
I do tell my husband about my fitness goals...as for my family, they probably would not approve of my desire to pursue Figure competition. They are quite religious and "modest" about dress...if that makes any sense.I do tell my husband about my fitness goals...as for my family, they probably would not approve of my desire to pursue Figure competition. What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Don't give up on your dreams no matter WHO pressures you to do so. Instead, know WHY you love working out. Set goals and attain them. There's nothing better than grit and determination!
"Figure Competitor...are you serious?" That was the response I received from my sweet hubby when I finally confessed to him my secret dream. "Why do you NEED to compete, sweetheart? You already look terrific!" That's when I realized the misunderstanding gap between the...
