How I Started:
I was introduced to bodybuilding by my ex-husband, close to 18 years ago. Since then, I've always tried to stay fit, but I have moments where I slack off and moments when I'm really intense about it. But it will always be a part of my life.
Why I Love It:
Obviously I like the way it makes me look, but above that, I love the way it makes me feel. I have more energy, I'm more in control of my moods and emotions, and I just generally have more passion for life.
How I Stay Motivated:
I don't want to feel my age. I'm 42, but I'm 28 in my mind. I want my body to keep up with my head. :)
BB Accomplishments:
I use to be a certified aerobics instructor back in the day. I also taught water aerobics to seniors, and that was pretty rewarding. I've helped many friends and family members get fit and lose weight by creating workout and diet plans for them. It's a great feeling to be able to share my knowledge of both subjects and help the ones who are special in my life.

Goal (Long):
I'm looking to take my body to another level. I'm in good shape, and definitely healthy on the inside, but I really haven't lifted seriously in years. I'm good about cardio and watching my diet, but not so diligent on the weights. There was a time when I was super fit and tone, and I want that back. I've lost 7 pounds since January and about 4% body fat. I want to lose another 6 pounds and another 5% body fat. I was lacking motivation for a while, but I've gotten back into the groove and I'm starting to see good results. I want to rock that bikini this summer!!!
What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Remember that it's okay if it feels awkward and overwhelming at first. DON'T GIVE UP! Getting fit is a lifetime journey - there should be no end goal. Just try your best every day, and don't quit. What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
I paid too much attention to what everyone else was doing. Since then, I've realized that you should tailor your workouts to your own goals, not someone elses. I was lifting way too much weight, and my legs got really "bulky" and I hated it. And it was because I found myself competing with another girl in the gym. I soon realized that working out should be about reaching your own personal goals, not keeping up with everyone else in the gym. I paid too much attention to what everyone else was doing.
