Its not rocket science, just plain good eating habits.
I have always been a no bull shit kind of guy. I eat whole foods as much as possible but for me, I hate tuna out of a can, I can't stand the rabbit food salads with that nasty ass tasting dressing. So given this issue I have had to find a better way of eating with out the "staple" menu that so called die hards eat. As it turns out, I think I am doing better then they are. I eat plenty of veggies and I always eat 2 protein sources at each meal, yes veggies have protein. Carbs and fats as well as protein but try to eat in the right proportions each meal. The 45-35-20 diet seems to be working very very well for my muscular gains and even when I'm not working out (I took a few years off lifting) I kept to my plans but lowered my consumption of Calories to manage my weight. I adjusted the percentages slightly here and there as needed depending on the day but I have done pretty well with balance and my body seems to react well, my blood levels are great to say the least (made the doctors jelouse) and I gain muscle easily and fat is not an issue (im an easy gainer of fat in the mid section and I haven't gained). I can be a couch potatoe one day and be working my ass off the next and I always have the energy I need.
