When I Started:
Oct, 2007
How I Started:
Things started for me pretty young. I had just started high school and my dad got involved in the Body for Life program. So early in the morning he'd get me out of bed and take me to the gym with him. Things really didn't take off till last year when I decided I was tired of being underweight. I was deployed so the availability of high calorie foods and time for the gym was plentiful. After five months of consistent training and nutrition, and loads of research I ended up gaining 40 lbs to put me at 190 lbs. I noticed a great improvement in size, strength, and overall feeling.
Why I Love It:
I love having the ability to take charge of my life and change, not be stuck with what genetics handed me. I enjoy going into the gym full of energy and coming out completely whipped, knowing I put everything I had into it.
How I Stay Motivated:
I stay motivated by setting high goals and steps to obtain them. I started out wanting to be 215 lbs and told myself, "first you have to get to 175, then 185, then 190 and so on." Other people keep me motivated as well. When they notice the changes I've gone through, and ask how they can do the same, it pushes me to keep going.
