North Hennipen Community College and Lifetime Fitn
Gym Location:
At college and at home
When I Started:
Oct, 2005
How I Started:
I began bodybuilding seriously in October of 2005. I did it for myself, for no one else. I began with the goal of improving my self esteem and self worth. I saw myself doubting myself seriously in all aspects of character. I didn't feel I could ever find a special someone; I was too skinny and too shy. I didn't feel I could compete in sports; I was too small and was constantly overpowered. I felt I couldn't succeed in life, and that I always had something to prove. As I saw changes in my body and self esteem I became hooked and hope to never let go of a Sport that changed my life.
Why I Love It:
It has made me a better person!
How I Stay Motivated:
The mirror, the haters, the pump, I could go on and on
BB Accomplishments:
2006 NPC North Star Men's Teen Champion/Middleweight 3rd Place
Forum Signature:

Embrace the offseason and gain 10-15 quality pounds of muscle by April
Goal (Long):
In September of 2005 I decided that I needed to change. I was athletic and very fit but something was missing. This was my confidence, I wasn't proud with who I was. I had been a member of the local gym, Lifetime Fitness, since I was twelve and had never really used it to my advantage. It became time for me to literally build myself from the bottom up. I've alwasy had strong legs and decent calves so initially I focused on bringing my upper body up to par. I began my journey at 150 lean pounds. I wanted to gain weight, but the majority being muscle. Since then I put on 33 lbs by late July while increasing my bodyfat to only 8.9% (up from 7.4%). Right now i'm down to 174.8 lbs at somewhere around 6% bodyfat for my contest October 28th. I wish to place in my first contest but following that I will embrace my offseason and hope to put on a good twenty five pounds. Come contest time again next spring/summer I hope to be at 185 lbs contest shape (doubtful, but hey...you gotta dream).
Man, you've got some impressive progress photos! Exceptional quad definition and good upper body! ope your progress is continuing. The muscle looks good on you! -Ray
Thanks! I have been training for bodybuilding for about 5 years now, before that I lifted for college track and powerlifting, big difference... Good luck with all of your fitness goals and stick with it. I am just really starting to make a difference in my physique.
Matt, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Entry forms are now available online at our website for you or others you know who may be interested in competing in April!
Congrats to you on the changes you have made in many ways... Jeez, I know exactly how you felt as I was also painfully shy and skinny. Bodybuilding was the catalyst to a lot of very positive changes, and I'll probably lift till I can't lift no more. :)
Happy Holidays and have a healthy, muscle building 2008!

You had expressed some interest in competing in the "NPC Heartland Natural Classic" next spring... I just wanted you to know that we have been forced to move the date of the show from April 12, 2008 to April 5, 2008. For more information about the show check out our website at www.npchnc.com or send me an email at info@npchnc.com so I can send you posters if none are currently posted in the gym you train at!
o and you prolly would beat me right now in the condition, no way in the size, but then again, whoever comes in better conditioned would win, plus, im only 17...your 19, cant wait to see how you look
are you competing at the North Star? i dont even know if im gonna do the north star anymore cause i need to keep gettin bigger for football, but im gonna start dieting monday..and then coming october i will see where im at...but i will for sure do the next gopher, you might turn 20 by then
I lift at Beyer Hall. The ISU weight club is there. It's only like $50 for a year membership that they use for new equip. It's pretty cool if you haven't been there. Old school weightroom, got everything you need. Plus a lot of big guys lift there and you can usually get a spot from someone. Where do you lift at?
Sorry, I did not see the final scorecard and we're sorry about the mix up! Just keep plugging away, put on some more size and come in leaner next time. btw... I work for an architectural/engineering firm and I saw you're going school for architecture.
