Goal (Long):
My 81 year old father was in the hospital recently. He has emphysema (from smoking for 40 years) and this time he had fluid around his heart. I spoke with his doctor about my dad's prognosis and asked him what physical therapy my dad could do to keep him well. The doctor said "its not so much what people do now when they're in bad shape, its what they should have been doing 20 to 30 years ago that make the difference". I realized then that my future health and happiness was dependent on what I do right now. As I approach my 50th birthday, I realize what a lifetime of bad decisions that I have made regarding my health. Even after a bout with cancer in 2004, I have done none of the things that I promised my self that I would do. I can wait no longer, I can make no more excuses, I must act now. Any help and encouragement will be most appreciated. Thanks.
Well I've go good news and bad news. Which do want first? The bad news is twofold. First, still no cardio. I could create a list of excuses, but none will suffice. I stated last week that I was going to start doing cardio and I didn't. End of story. The second half of the bad news...
Sorry for the mistakes in the first post.
I got the 1-100's from Muscle and Fitness Mag. They had a article with Buddy Grimm (check spelling) T.O's PT. What you do is you select a weight that is about 40% of your 10 rep max. Your goal is to do 100 reps but not at once. Let's say you do 30 reps on the first set then you have 70 reps to go. The rest between sets is always the reps you have left to get to 100. So after 30 reps you rest for 70 sec then start again.

Thanks Doug for the inspiring comments. My workout is coming along good. I have only lost 1 pound so far this week even though I've been eating right and doing cardio. 7 pounds is awesome! When you start cardio the weight will melt off. You have plenty of time to get to your goal weight so don't push yourself too hard; I have faith that you will make it. My B-day is coming up on the 29th of this month (Oct) so hopefully we both will be in the best shape of our lives come next Oct. Good Luck!
