To look like I did before I got hurt...which is to look like I did in the pic of me in the orange bikini...
Goal (Long):
I just want to be as fit as I was before I got hurt. Unfortunately I have been a bit depressed since my accident and have let myself go...I now weight 155lbs and am 5'4" and I used to weigh 115-120lbs. I will be at that weight again and I will have the body I desire.
FYI: In 2006 I broke my L-4 vertebra, and cracked my T-12 vertebrae. The L-4 was severely broken...in half to be exact...since then I have had one back surgery (you can see the scars in my pics), they put in two titanium rods and four screw in my L-3 and L-5 and fused L-3,4,5 together, but since the L-4 is still unstable (it's moving between 7 and 10 degrees up and down) they have to do a second surgery to remove it and replace it with a titanium cage and do a few other things while in there. But due to the fact that on the left side of my spine the bone is not growing where they fused it my spine is even weaker and has collapsed a bit and has started curving side-ways. But this surgery will be done from my front/side just above my hip...which is why my doc wants me to slim down as much as I can...but it's not easy because I can only swim and aqua jog. Lifting is not an option. neither is any thing that involves any impact (not even walking).
But none-the less, I am too stubborn to let this stop me from enjoying life. So, I take a few pain killers and go work out (not running or anything like that I still take it fairly easy), I can at least lift weights and do some walking though.
I will lose at least 20 LBS by October 1st, and most of it will be fat. That will put be at 135LBS. If I lose more than that, that would be great, but I want to be healthy so I think 20LBS is a good goal. And I want to weigh 115-120 LBS by May of 2009. I have given myself an extra month or two because of the surgery and the fact that I'll be laid up for a month or two. I know I can achieve my goals with hard work and dedication and I know I have it in me, because I've done it before, so I can do it again.
I would also like to participate in the tango adventure race next year. I love running and according to the doc. I'll be able to run again after I recover from this surgery, which is the part of the race I'd love to do.
What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
Running. I love the natural high...
But for now I have to swim for cardio, I enjoy aqua jogging. It doesn't come close to my love for running, but it's a great cardio work out.

What is your cardio exercise plan?
I usually aqua jog for 30-45 mins. Then I swim laps at a slow pace for 20-30 mins.
I used to jog 3-4 miles every day, and run 1-2 miles every day.
I hate being at this stage. I am not seeing results on the scale, but I am seeing them on the tape measure. I haven't lost but a few pounds but my waist and hips and butt are shrinking....which is good, I guess that means I am loosing fat, not muscle, and I'm toning all the muscle under the...
Aqua-jog for 30-45 mins
*I usually do a combination of both for about 60mins.
This is the best way for me to get my cardio and it
also helps relieve pressure on my back.
You are making great progress and I congratulate you on what you have achieved to this point. I cannot imagine what you have had to push through as far as pain but you have shown courage and determination and for that I consider you a real role model. Keep pushing and you will where you want to go. May God bless and keep you strong.
