Background

When I Started: Feb 2007
HOW I STARTED:

When I was in the Marines my unit and I were doing some training for a deployment to Iraq. We were in 29 palms California and I started in the gym there with much bigger guys than I. They never let me quit and I continue to this day hitting the gym hard.

WHY I LOVE IT:

The relief of stress, and the good positive emotions that come with it. My favorite part of the day is those few precious moments right after a grueling workout, knowing that you left all you had to offer out on the floor and then some.

New Era and Morning Workouts

My reign at Southtowns Fitness Center (formerly Gold's Gym) has come to an end and with that I am now able to work out at 0500 every morning without having to worry about fitting my 2 a day workouts in with little time.  So what better way to celebrate my first day back to morning workouts with a killer boulder shoulder session…


Morning workouts are amazing if you can stomach rolling out of your bed at 0430 every day.  By training in the morning versus the evening, you have a better chance of actually completing your workouts rather than spend the day dreading the gy

During my workouts I seem to constently over hear young weight lifters no older than the age of 20, say things to one another about weight lifting that makes me cringe.  The things they say is complete nonsense and I usually attempt to tune it out, because let's face it, they're still in a stubborn stage and for me to correct them would be considered offensive to their ever growing puny brains.


However, there was one thing I had overheard that I really just can't seem to let go.  While cooling down on the treadmill after one of my training sessions, I overheard
