When I quit smoking at the age of 23, gained weight and found myself in Weight Watchers with my mother. I started with the aerobic classes but did not enjoy them but once I got in the free weight room..... that is where it all began!!!
Why I Love It:
The thrill of watching my body transform.. And the fact that as you get older, you need to work harder to maintain a nice physique. You HAVE to work at it. But the best thing of all, it the people I meet, the girls I work with in my Workshops and the girls I compete with. I truly enjoy that the most.
How I Stay Motivated:
It gets hard sometimes but I always remember, if I don't get to the gym and work at it, the day of my show, the girl who placed higher than me certainly made sure SHE made it and worked hard!!! That will keep any competitor motivated..
BB Accomplishments:
Getting back on the stage after having to take some time off for health reasons... Regaining my pro card with the WNBF and managing to place in the top five with girls in their 20's when I am 40 years old. That is an accomplishment in itself. Also placing 2nd at the WNBF Pro World Figure Championships 2 years in a row and winning the first ever WNBF Pro Masters Figure Championships this past year (but I don't think I want to ever enter a "masters" division again). When I feel like I'm in the masters, then I will enter one..But for now I truly like the challenge of competing with the younger ones.
