My Workout Philosophy View My Full Workout Program

Injuries were because of a "one-size-fits-all" mentality. Studying, I learned how to workout optimally. Now I am testing all my theories.

I believe that the way we eat and the way we train ought to be based on what our goals are. I used to think that there was only one way to workout and eat. That one size fits all. But I was always hitting a plateau, and having to workout longer just to see some kind of results. Even my results were based on limited info - the scale. How sure was I that I was losing body fat and not muslce? I was getting larger, but not stronger. I encountered more pain and injury with heavy reps and heavy weight. 

I studied further on my own to learn optimization was key. Carbs and protein. Is it asthetics or performance that matters  this month? Strength training is different from hypertrophic training. Cardio is good, but making it fun through high intesity interval weight training (for me) is better. 

When dieting, I didn't realize what nutritional values were limiting me from seeing gains (strength), and reaching composition goals (fat loss).

You have to see the whole picture and train based on the goals. Understanding that if your goal is strength, you may not see fat loss. It will keep you motivated! Once you change the goal, focus on that a little, and change it up so that plataeus don't form. 

Now I feel happier than I did before because goals are achieved. I am constantly improving myself physically. Constantly educating myself on how to optimize myself.

  • Thanks! I was surprised by the lift as well. To be honest, 395 was my "failure" point. I am glad I sought out a Powerlifting Coach with 10 years competing experience. He pointed out some things and spotted me. Because of that I was able to FAIL at 395 (previous rep was 365 x2 ) at full depth squat. Working on passing 395.

  • Honestly. . . Strength more than size. But challenges like bsn and dymatize (plus the summer season) kind of distract me at times. It sort of changes to size/appearance. I am trying to find a happy medium.

cosminlita Yes, I've read your blog posts, and also read into Keto Dieting ... but it seems kinda unnatural ... low carb I get it, but that much fat ... I'm afraid I will turn into a big chunk of lard if I start eating that way :)) ... at the moment, I stick to the basic 5 meals a day, with protein in every meal, and carbs from green sources (mix of vegetables, broccoli, cucumber etc.) ... also taking CLA and Fish Oil and one fish meal a day ... Marianarism Hey thanks for asking! This week I worked a ton so my workouts have been sacrificed. I went to crossfit yesterday and am scheduled again today. Does anyone else do crossfit?
