At earliest 21/22. Honestly a lot of people think they help a ton but for sports they don't do as much as you would think. Adding that much size and strength that fast doesn't always make you better performance wise. I would start taking ZMA before bed. That is one of the best things you can do and will help with your natural testosterone and getting deeper restful sleep.
No problem man I did the same thing and did a ton of bicep stuff too.. both are basically useless and I ended up with my arm throbbing at times until I stopped. I played 3 years in Hawaii for college and I'm working on transferring somewhere this fall or trying out for a minor league team. It's a weird situation and I had to sit out the past year.
It limits mobility, tightens up your front shoulder and puts a ton of stress on your rotator cuff. A lot of people bench but honestly there is no practical reason to bench unless you play football or do something where you push. I've seen a lot of guys never play again and/or have arm problems because they bench and play ball.
