This was an awesome show. I would definitely recommend Dave\'s shows to any competitor - the day was fast, the prejudging and finals were done quickly, no fuss no frills. The competition was TOUGH, a lot of beautiful girls and a lot of VERY conditioned BBers. I was very happy with my look, I\'ve put on considerable size since Yorton and my leanness was JUST where it needed to be - I had full, capped shoulders on stage for the first time ever! I won first in the figure tall group out of 5 girls. After the prejudging the general buzz was that it would be me, a lot of people approached me with great feedback and compliments. It was almost a little overwhelming!
I did lose the overall to Debrah Dunn, she looked amazing. She had a little more back width and bigger quads than me, smoother shoulders. She\'s also been doing this much longer. She definitely deserved the win.
This has me so pumped up for my next show! I\'m ready! I would do one of Dave\'s shows again in the future, but next year it won\'t fit in my schedule. Afterwards, a local gym hosted a pizza party for everyone, it was cool to have that initial pig-out fest taken care of. I\'m back on the diet today (although I did put a splash of 1% milk in my coffee this AM and it\'s HEAVENLY).
EXTRA EXTRA special thanks to my friends and family that came all the way to Woodbridge to support me. It\'s the most people I\'ve ever had to watch me and it was so great to share my win with you. Thanks Lindsey, Monica, David and Mom!!! |

I'm very happy with this placing. There was no question on the judging criteria for figure in this show. The girls that won and placed were the lean girls. I look forward to seeing the score sheets because although the figure open tall was the clear winner, 2nd place and I should have been a pretty close call.
Overall it was a very fun day. The night show was just too long. I looked so much better than last week, its amazing what getting some sleep and less stress for work will do for your physique! I had a great dinner afterwards that make me sick and plan on taking a week off then to start training for Tri-Fitness in July, this should be intense! |

This event was VERY different from my first two shows. There was little focus on fitness, it was more of a beauty pageant. Definitely not what I'm looking for. A lot of Cathy Savage girls competed and placed, which makes my 6 (out of 12 I think) a little more impressive, because I didn't have the "connections" behind the scenes. The top 6 were all over the place, me and #3 were really lean, most of the girls had jiggly thighs and no ab separation. I had no idea what the judges were doing there.
This solidifies my decision to begin competing in the NPC. No way am I going to train and diet my ass off to come in nice and hard with full muscle bellies to have it not appreciated. My leaner physique fits well with OCB, INBF, and NPC, so I'm not even going to waste my time outside of that... |

This show could have been a huge disaster! My blingy fuschia suit was illegal and I had to buy a green BB posing bikini there. There were only 5 figure competitors but they were all pretty well conditioned. I had a very easy day after the registration drama...I took it easy and just had a lot of fun with my stage walk.
I did lose the overall. The woman who beat me looked good, but she did bodybuilding type poses which I did not expect. A lot of people came up to me after and said I should have won, I looked more fit, but with figure you just never know what the judges want. Most important, I was VERY happy with how I looked. My abs looked great, my tan was good, my arms looked full, my legs had some definition in them and came in a little leaner than at the Core.
The night show was a little disorganized but all in all, it was a great day. I know I need to work on my posing, prepare a "posedown routine" just in case, and just bust my ass and I should make a good showing in Pittsburgh. This show was definitely good practice and a good learning experience. |

This was my first competition ever. I woke up that morning with a streaky JanTana tan and feeling the fattest I felt all week. I almost didn't go! My boyfriend played the perfect role, saying that "whatever you decide, I support you, but I believe you can do it." I decided I had already dropped a couple hundred bucks, might as well go, what's the worse that could happen? I needed to go be in a show and experience it. I needed to know what to expect next time.
So I went and had a great day that flew by incredibly fast. I competed in the Figure Open Tall and Figure Novice Tall classes and placed 3rd (out of 8 and 9) in both. I met some cool girls and learned that I could do it! It was a great experience and a great day, and I'm truly pumped to compete again, just dying to get on stage.
I think my tanning really hurt my placings, so I am swearing off of JanTana for now! |
