It's a long story... I've always been an athlete, for as long as I can remember - at 14 I was national fencing champion, for example. Powerlifing, my current sport, is pretty recent in my life: my first championship was in August 2006, three weeks after I started training. However, I had always been involved in sports, in general, and in weight training for at least two years.
Why I Love It:
I love powerlifting because the training itself balances my mind and body, it is something of a transcendental experience. Competing is like being elavated to another consciousness level. The intensity of the experience is uncomparable to anything I've ever felt (except competing, in another sport).
How I Stay Motivated:
It is the most important thing in my life. It saved my life from a lethal disorder and the most important part of the day is training - when I really feel good. I stay motivated because of SHEER PLEASURE and EXCITEMENT.
BB Accomplishments:
Powerlifting.

Break records, all I can, both open and master, regional, national and whatever I can lift my way to...
Goal (Long):
There is no division line between my own athletic goal and my life-project goal concerning the sport: I want to make a difference, to do my part in strengthening powerlifting and the strength sports in general in my country and, in this manner, to help those for whom this is decisive for their survival and resistence to hardship. Yes, I am proud when I improve my marks, but I am prouder when I succeed in getting sponsorship for our program. I need to be a good athlete, train hard and improve not only for myself, but to be a good sister to my fellow powerlifting athletes in Brazil.
Whatever it is, I feel like Jell-o. Maybe just a bad combination of work related stress, urinary tract infection and a lot of injuries. The fact is that I decided to give up training for meets this year, and this has been a relief. I’ve got to concentrate on writing and taking care of...
Hey Marilia! Just getting caught back up on here. Been away for a while but haven't been slacking!!! Got done with a UPA meet end of January and had a blast. On to read and keep updating my blog.
Its good to be part of a group, I left my trainer when he wanted me to choose -muscles or endurance. So now I am on my own. This site has helped, there are so many knowledgeable athletes. ANd yes I undertand driving to train, when I want to get on the Obstacle course I have to drive 6 hours to get there....

Thanks!I guess, I am not sure how much to be lifting.Use to lift 3 sets, 10/12 reps. But now that I am going for strength,I'm not sure how many reps to do.This is all completely new to me.I just did deadlifting at my 1st comp cuz it looked like fun.But now....... I'm hooked.I'm so determined to get a record! If not nationally, at least for my state!I'm only 10 pounds off the state record.I've gone from 175 to 225 in 2 months and I am just now feeling like I really know what I'm doing!
