When I Started:
2003
How I Started:
I was a cheerleader for 7 year which kept me active and fit for the most part. But then I gained the dreaded "Freshman 15" in my first semester at UConn and went from a wholesome 125 to 140lbs. I was DISGUSTED at how much I had gained in a short amount of time so I started going to the gym and taking fitness classes at school. I was instantly hooked! In April 2004 I became an AFAA certified Primary Group Fitness instructor and started teaching classes on campus!
Why I Love It:
I love working out because of how I look and feel after committing to a workout program. I feel like I've done something that's healthy and will prolong my life. Working out is the one thing that I do for myself and myself alone! Nothing better than leaving the gym after a physical (team camo!) workout...what a stress reliever!
How I Stay Motivated:
I stay motivated by looking through old pictures and remembering how I looked/felt when I was heavier and compare to how I look/feel when I am at my fittest! My amazing boyfriend also motivates me because he is very much into fitness and pushes me to workout harder. Visiting this site and seeing everyone elses progress is also very inspiring, too. On days that I don't feel like working out, visiting bodyspace or reading a fitness article online always convinces me otherwise! So thank you guys for that ;)
I can't remember the exact date of this picture but I know it was in my first year at UConn. Obviously hard at work studying! It's not the best picture but it was the only one I wasn't embarassed to post! :) So glad I'm not this "full" anymore!
Action shot of the Miss CT USA 2009 swimsuit competition...I finished 4th runner up!
