How I Started:
My sister and her boyfriend have been competing for years in bodybuilding and fitness competitions. I watched them transform their bodies and was inspired to start to train myself.
Why I Love It:
It is an amazing feeling to be physically strong (and work towards getting stronger), but most importantly is the mental strength and self discipline that come along with it.
How I Stay Motivated:
Emails to my sister, setting new goals, changing up my workout, becoming a fitness instructor.
I have begun dieting and training hard at the gym. As my sister would say "it's ripping time". I will compete in a figure competition in July when I return home to Canada for the summer. I am excited to see the changes in my body over the next 5 months. I know it will be a challenging and amazing experience. The biggest challenge I see right now is walking in heels across the stage, not even kidding!!

What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
I guess just to have a no excuses policy, you have to work out tired, sore, grumpy - just go! My only excuse is extreme health reasons .. if I have a cold I find the gym helps me to feel better, but if I'm really sick I have to remember to take it easy.
