When I Started:
2007
How I Started:
I was tired of being tired and not feeling sexy like I use to. My daughter told me that I looked good for my age and that with the muscle I have already it wouldn't take me long to look great. I want to believe her, so I decided to give it a try.
Why I Love It:
That is the problem, I have to make myself "love" to work out. My muscles got the way they are now because I never had to "try". I always did things that I enjoyed like roller skating, bicycling, track and neighborhood sports.
How I Stay Motivated:
I want to spend the next 30 years or so of my life being fit and slender and not carrying the extra baggage that I have been. I always have to put my hands in front of my stomach to hide it and I am tired of doing this.
My main objective is to lose fat, especially baby belly blubber that I have carried around for 16 years 5 kids ago. I would like to tone / maintain muscle that I have.
Goal (Long):
I have always been one of those people that you cannot tell how much I weigh because I do have some muscle that happened to me in my youth as a roller skater. I use to go 3 and 4 times on the weekends for several years. I was an avid bicyclist before the days of owning a car. I participated in track in high school and all the neighborhood sports of the season.
My goal is to lose this baby fat (around my stomach) that I accrued after my last pregnancy of child number five. While I never gained more than 20 pounds with each of my pregnancies, the weight gain seemed to occur more so after the delivery of my 5th child. I will not blame it on having my tubes tied, but other women that I have talked to say that the same weight gain happened to them after that surgery??? Does anyone know?
I hate my arms, they are not exactly fat -my oldest son calls them buff... one time we were out at a party and some guy asked me if I wanted to arm wrestle. He was drunk, but also serious. I use to have really nice looking arms, they seemed to have gotten bulkier, I don't know what to do about this as it seems to be more of a problem than the tire around my waist line.
I am 5'-2" and weigh 160 and would like to be the weight that I was after every pregnancy and also my high school of 115. Perhaps it would be more realistic of a goal to shoot for 125 instead. I don't want to be in for a let down by being unrealistic. Positive is one thing, however, realistic is another.
I made the plunge on 2/4/07 and joined a fitness center. I have been doing no more than 20 minutes cardio per day and the rest of the time concentrating on legs one day, abs another and arms and back on the 3rd day. The equipment is wonderful. My attitude is changing already.
Ultimately, I want to lose the weight of 45 pounds and keep the muscle that I have had for most of my life.

I want to thank a lot of you for your kind words and advice. You have all made me realize that I must be doing something right. You have all told me that weight loss isn't everything and that "the mirror" is most important and how others see me and how I see myself. Well I have...
Hi Darla: I just thought that I would drop by and wish you much success in achieving all of your goals. You are making good progress and I look forward to watching you progress even more. Keep pushing yourself to be the best that you can be and the results will be well worth the effort. Keep reaching for the higher branches.
Hey there, Just checking in to see how you're doing. You're looking good... and loosing the BF you want to get rid of. How are things going in general?
I've not been to the gym for 4 months... unfortunatley it makes me very lightheaded and I'm 6 months preggers. I'll be back here with a vengnece when I've had him, I feel like a hefferlump!
