I have always loved bodybuilding, from as long as I can remember. As a kid, I was always running to and fro, climbing, riding, swimming; any activity was good activity as far as I was concerned. My father, also into exercising, was a great inspiration to me, especially after he sustained two strokes and an automobile accident. He proved the doctors wrong. Nowadays, unless you knew his medical history, you would never know he had been paralized even for a moment.
Why I Love It:
I love how bodybuilding allows one to reshape the body, but what I love more is the higher level of functionality that comes along with good health and toned muscles. The strength and power in the body's movements when it is in peak form is a rush! A strong spine, legs, arms, trunk, etc...all these components contribute to a decreased risk of injury and may lead to longer functionality. This is something I truly want for myself.
As an added bonus, I love knowing that my husband has something nice to come home to after the day is done.
How I Stay Motivated:
I keep a journal of my progress and measurements and surf bodybuilding.com's site. I also read Muscle and Fitness and Hers. I used to avoid Hers, but it has improved since its inception and now shows bodies that I can understand. I could never be thin, but I can definitely be built:)
In addition to all this, my husband's constant love and support of everything I do is an added source of motivation. And lets not forget my sons, who love to mess around, doing leg lifts, running around in circles, etc. while I work out. My little men and hubby keep me going when I am down on my progress.
BB Accomplishments:
In 1997, I achieved a 4-mi run in 37 minutes, my personal best (I am currently trying to get my run back up, but am slower in my old age...lol).
In 1998, I was doing 75 push-ups. My goal now will be to slowly work my way back to that personal best.
Recovering from an illness, in 2006 I weighed 155 lb and was very depressed over how slowly the weight was coming off, but was grateful to be on the mend.
Bicep development week 1 - You can see the layer of fat overlaying the muscle at this point.
It takes incredible strength to overcome something as severe as this woman has faced. To see her fighting to become someone her daughter can be proud of (not to mention ensuring she is around for her daughter in future years) makes me feel anything is possible.
Incredible body...for any age. Shows true motivation and is a true inspiration to those of us fighting to get to our goals. An incredible inspiration for any age and true testament that determination can accomplish anything.
Just a small note to let all of you on this site know how wonderful I think you are and how grateful I am to have this site and everyone on it. Your comments, encouragement, and friendship is wonderful to have and I hope the New Year treats you all as kindly and as generously as you have...
Thank you so much for the add Marguerite !!! :) Yep! I'm having the same problem at work myself, Every other day someone has cookies or donuts there bring in from home! It's Killing Me!
I dropped by to see how things are going with your fitness program and how you are doing? I hope that all is well and that you motivation is staying high. If there is ever anything that I can do to be of assistance please feel free to give me a yell. Remember:”If you will not settle for anything less than your best, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish in your life.”
hi maelstorm thanks for the kind words im so glad to have my trainer back aswell i know there's alot of hardwork for me to do though over this past year ive learnt alot about myself and the sport of bodybuilding hows your training going?
Thank you so much and good luck to you! This is a great site with lots of very cool and motivating people. That has helped me get over lots of hurtles and I'm not stopping now. This is so worth it :).
Thank you so much! I haven't lost any weight, the number on the scale just fluctuates within a couple lbs depending on what I've eaten the previous day (salt, lots of carbs, etc). I actually haven't weighed myself in several weeks, but judging by my clothing I'm the same as always. Working on trying to build up more muscle though, the expecting the scale to nudge forward soon.
From and RN to another RN thanks for the kind words. Stay for upcoming videos and preparing for a new show.....it keeps me young at heart. Wishing you the best with your fitness journey. Merry fitness

LOL.....when I was in the Navy I had to go to a 6 mth school in ATHENS, GA. Yikes....home of UGA. That was tough. I removed my Gator license plate I had at the time.
hello M thanks for the add as a friend and all the very best with all your fitness goals in 2009. Have a great weekend and God Bless & Takecare Ciao Bella Beautiful M
Cool, i think it will be worth it! I love science so that should help. I took computer classes in college, but need a change. Nursing jobs aren't going overseas so that is another plus. Always in demand.
Thank you and you are right :) I'm excited to get started. Just need to go back and get retested on some stuff before i can enroll. How is your week coming along so far?
Awesome progress pics. I just noticed that you are a RN. I am looking to get into nursing as well. I want to go back to college in the Summer quarter. I just need to finish up applying for financial aid.
Cool! Sounds great! I love that feeling. My body is responding well to my new workout. I just need to shed some of this winter coat...lol. Yeah, lets stay motivated for sure!
