In college I took Life Guard training for a PE class, I would come in early and leave late and push harder than the rest of the class. I loved the results of hard work and took that to the weight room
Why I Love It:
Healthy body and a healthy mind. I love seeing the rewards of hard work and strict nutrition. There is no cheating, your body is the score card. It just feels great to push the weights around, and the soreness makes me aware of my body, it is a good hurt, a painfull pleasure.
How I Stay Motivated:
This varies from day to day, sometimes I need more motivation than others. If I dont feel sore in any areas I know I am slacking. Being a role model to some also keeps me from getting lazy. And lets face it, the results in the mirror (both good and bad ) are a great motivator. I am also motivated by the many hard working people on this site who have fantastic results and miraculous transformations.
Gain muscle, lose fat, increase endurance and flexibility
Goal (Long):
I had been active and athletic most of my l ife. In college I was a an avid swimmer and less than 10% BF.
I stayed active after college and loved outdoor sports, dirt bikes, boating, swimming and scuba diving.
A few years ago I had a motorcycle accident and was out of the gym for 6 months. What a difference 6 months of being sedentary and not eating right can make.
Although I could not exercise, I still should have watched my diet better. I did not realize how bad I was till I saw a picture that was taken of me. The stress, lack of exercise and bad bad eating and drinking habits had taken their toll.
I was up to 220lbs and 38 BF.
Enough was enough and I re-upped the gym membership and started going again. I found that going in the morning was best for me. By the end of the day there were too many distractions not to go.
Now I hit the gym at 5:30 AM, and by 8 AM I am all done and at work, AND feeling great physically all day because I had my exercise, as well as mentally because I achieved my goal of getting to the gym.
12 weeks on I am down to 213 at 28% BF
My goal is 200 at 8% BF in 6 months.
