When I Started:
Apr, 2005
How I Started:
I grew up loving the huge superheroes in comics and on tv. I never wanted to be the guy with super speed, ninja skills or laser eyes. I wanted the be the huge guy with the insane muscles. When my uncle (also my mentor) was younger he competed in amatuer bodybuilding competitions. His body is 57 now, but his mind won't buy into that. The passion is still there. As we built a relationship, he shared why he started and is still so involved in fitness and it was contagious for me. I "caught the bug" the first time I wrapped my hand around a bar and haven't let go since.
Why I Love It:
It drives me. Disciplines me. Gives me the focus I need in life. It keeps me grounded too. I believe that my body is God's temple and as such, I want Him to have the best home possible. It motivates me and excites me. Some only love the results, I actually love the process too. I love to lift. My gym time is more sacred to me than anything accept my church time. It's my passion.
How I Stay Motivated:
As I hinted at before, I don't do this for me or for other people. When you've got a Higher Power as your audience, you'd better bring your A-Game. I feel great, look even better and am ALWAYS making improvements. I guess it all relates to my life's "motto" I guess: "Content but not satisfied." I'm content and happy and blessed with all I've accomplished and been given and gifted with, but there's no WAY I'm staying where I am. I can always be better...and I will be.
BB Accomplishments:
There are milestones you pas in every journey that you'll never forget. Great workouts, the first time you bench more than your bodyweight, partners that insipre and drive you, songs you learn to love or hate because of lifts you had...mine are all no different. I love it all.

luckysharkis inspired by oldsuperman. Reason: "Isn't it obvious? Looking like you're in your 20's while actually in your 50's is an unbelievable achievement. Wow. "
Why? What are the pros and cons of working out there?
Pro's- It's MINE. No waiting, completely customized to me. Con's- I may not push it as hard or get through my lifts as fast because nobody's around. But it hasn't hurt me yet.

What should look for in a gym? What should you avoid?
It's simple. Just like every other aspect of your life, you should do what works for you. Enough said.

How many reps per set do you usually do? Why?
Strictly 8-12 with only the exception of a warm-up set of 15. 8-10 when bulking, 12 when cutting. Why? It's what works for me, man. Why else?
...but why? Am I the only one who's sick of hearing this? Somehow we're expected to just swallow wholeheartedly whatever the rest of the world tells us is normal and "somehow" find joy in it all. We're told there are things we just cannot change and have to accept. Now, I've come to...

Q&A
If you have time, I wanted to ask how much protein to eat per day. Along with eating eggs, salmon and shrimp I recently added Whey Protein (organic) to my diet. Lifting 45 minutes per day, plus 40 minutes of cardio, how much protein is enough to support your work-out?

Wow....you have a lot of space to work and grow with. I'm only 5'5" here but I'm going to do my best to pack as much muscle on. At your height I can only imagine what your limit is. I look foward to checking in and see where you're at.
Hi, Thanks for the comment on my blog - you talked about the constant fight to be better. I totally agree with you - as bodybuilders we are not satisfied with looking "all right" - we aim at perfection! That's what differentiates fighters from other people! So continue on your route to self - improvement!
