Background
I have always been very competitive, and I grew up with lots of brothers so naturally I had to keep up. I loved sports, dance, gymnastics, biking and anything outdoors growing up, but my diet was terrible. Depressed and done with being self-conscious all the time, I joined my first gym in 2008; ready to transform my body. I developed a love for running, not only for burning calories but as a stress relief and natural high. I ran a full marathon the following winter and with a trainer's help, shaved off 25 lbs and learned how to eat. I have been through many ups and downs since then, but I find that being fit and strong has given me self-confidence I never had before. I hope to inspire others who struggle with lack of confidence and help them find their motivation to be the best that they can be.
Training to me= motivation + self-discipline + belief that results will follow. It is 90% mental. 10% physical Of course it can be fun, but it is a lot blood, sweat, and tears.I know when I decide to wake up at the crack of dawn and go run, or hit the gym after a long day at work, I feel amazing afterwards. I love the feeling of empowerment from setting a goal and achieving it, whether it's to lift a little bit more today, or run 26.2 miles. I am a completely different person today than I was 3 years ago and working out has definitely taken a major role in that. I love sharing workout ideas, stories, tips, and advice with friends and I have trained a few also. I am currently the Fitness editor of an upcoming online magazine. I am really excited about it and will post more info once it is up and running. :)
