I started the summer after high school when I realized I wasn't thrilled with being just "average". My mom and brother were really into health/fitness as well so I had some background in it already. I started college taking courses for accounting and quickly realized I was taking a nose-dive in the wrong direction. I became a certified personal trainer a few years later, and since it's been 10 years of reading, studying, talking, picking brains, reading more, setting goals, and fitting in some more reading. That's how I got to where I am. I graduated and became a Registered Dietitian. I am now in school pursuing my Masters in Natural Health- with guidance from my mother- Lynn Murdock, owner of Earth, Wind and Fire Farm LLC, herbalist and Vice-President of the CT Herb Association. My goal...to be like her :)
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling of accomplishment. I like having control of what I can do to my body, and most of all I love the feeling as I leave the gym and all I want to do is smile. It is very important for me do know that I am doing something to better myself and my health.
How I Stay Motivated:
I don't really have a tactic, just really love doing it. I always have some sort of goal to keep on track and in the right direction. I never have to talk myself into working out- eating clean on the other hand isn't quite as easy. I do have a sweet tooth and would eat a peanut butter cup every night if I could.
BB Accomplishments:
I now own Eat to Live- where I am an Outpatient Dietitian at my Middletown & Portsmouth offices. My newest venture is online/phone consulting. I also am the Dietitian for SHAPE Magazine's 2007 Weight Loss Diary Columnist- Dara Chadwick. The articles come out monthly in SHAPE Magazine, and there is also a weekly blog online. Channel 6 News did a story on us, and shortly after I was interviewed for an article recently published in Bride & Groom magazine. I plan on getting myself out there as much as possible, and maybe writing a book or two down the road once I finish school.
Along the lines of bodybuilding accomplishments... I won a great guns contest at my gym a year or so ago, and I once stepped in as the trophy girl at a bodybuilding show I was judging. That was fun, didn't expect it!
