When I Started:
How I Started:
When I was in grade school Dad would bring me along when he'd go to the gym for his workouts. He'd have me do exercises like the bench press, overhead extensions and leg press with the little 10 pounders. I always enjoyed my time in the gym with him, and looked forward to each weekend because I knew it meant going to the gym early Saturday morning.
Why I Love It:
When I'm in the gym it's as if there isn't anything else on my plate except working through a few more sets or pushing out a little extra distance with the cardio. No matter how stressed I am from school or just life in general, going into the gym I know that it all gets put to the side. The rush I feel after every good workout; the more positive moods I experience after I've been going to the gym; it's all worthwhile and nothing has come close to it. This is what I plan to use to push me to continue with my workouts in the long run, and no more intermittent bursts of exercise. I'm in this for the long haul!
How I Stay Motivated:
I've had my ups and downs with training. At the start of every school year I tell myself that "this is it!" This is the time I'm going to start working out and continue all the way through to the end of the school year in the spring. Unfortunately, after a month or two into it I get distracted and decide to take a couple days off; this turns into a couple weeks and finally my entire workout is down the drain. Not anymore! Now I plan to stick it through and realize that through the hardwork and dedication I put in and out of the gym I will gain the results I want. I can't and I will no longer let one little distraction turn into an entire derailment for my training and exercising. The change for me starts now, diet, exercise and all.
I'm making it to the 30s on the db curls! It will be done!!
Goal (Long):
In the past I've lost focus on my goals and what I want to accomplish with the positive manipulations to my body's growth. Now, at the rip age of 21 I've made it my personal goal to see that I achieve the transformations I've been working after. I've always downplayed my lack of upper body strength, but now I will work to improve it; I will work to complete at least 4 pull-ups; to improve my squat to break 200; to not be afraid of the bench press and get past 130. These are my goals and I will accomplish them!
