Background

When I Started: Jan 2001
HOW I STARTED:

A bit about my background, I was a pretty chunky kid most of my life. Barely played outside, or exercised. By the time I graduated high school, I weighed 120 lbs and was a size 10. I yo-yo dieted throughout my life as well, most of those times barely eating (well, now I know better). My metabolism was at a complete loss. I had depression as well all my life and worsened by the year 2000. That same year, I was weighed at a Dr's office. I couldn't believe it: 180 lbs. A great amount on my short 4' 11" frame. That summer I decided it was time to turn things around, stopped seeing psychiatrists and taking meds and met with a naturopathic specialist. By the end of 2001 I was a non-smoker, had depression under control (I'm on maintenance now) and weighed 125 at a size 5 – 7.

WHY I LOVE IT:

It makes me feel great, powerful and like I am actually doing something for myself. It's my time to get away.

I stay motivated by thinking I'm training for the Olympia (like as if I'm an IFBB Pro competitor - LOL) and thinking I never want to go back to what I used to be. Also, my motivation comes from those who find me via Bodybuilding.com and see my transformation and email me with their questions and progress. I strive to stay clean and lean so as to remain an inspiration to others!

I, too, am combating some simmilar issues. I am short at only 5'0" and have just quit smoking. I am aiming to lose 60 lbs and sculpt my figure. I have done this before with good results but did not follow through...but I was still a smoker back then. Now I am hoping for permanent changes and your story was encouraging because it CAN be done! Thanks for sharing!

So, I HAVE been keeping track, but it's all been on facebook.  Unfortunately, over the weekend, I got a little crazy with nuts.  Back to the drawing board.  I definitely need more control of myself, because this is getting ridiculous. I will be posting past workouts soon.  Wish bb.com would hook up with facebook so one could keep track of workouts, cardio, calories burned and calories consumed, along with a diet log.  That would be bad ass.  Even just for bodyspace.  If I had me one of them cool phones, I could keep track of it all, including having an MP3 pl...

I really should be keeping track of my progress on here.  At any rate, my diet's pretty much the same a couple of days go, save for adding an extra meal, or two, which is always protein powder.  Which I eat when I get home, so the only real food I seem to be eating lately is chicken for lunch, otherwise known as my 3rd meal.  I should eat more real food.  At least my water intake is up.  My fruit intake is much more minimal.  Fat intake has stopped. This week I've gone on the treadmill Tuesday and last night and will again tonight & hopefully tomorrow morning....

Labor Day Weekend & Yesterday

So, this weekend was sort of productive.  I didn't end up doing legs due to having gone hiking up a different side of Skinner Mountain (Hadley, MA) and carrying my 18 mo old nephew up on my back who now weighs 20lbs.  This side of the mountain was far rockier than the way I usually go up, which is the way most "tourists" go up, not to mention, much steeper.  My legs and ass were BURNING.  I was expecting extreme soreness the next day, or two, but had none.  So, I figured, Saturday would've been considered my active rest day/leg day.  That night, we'd gon...
