When I Started:
Jun, 2000
How I Started:
High school, at the Fabela Chavez Boxing Center in Carson, CA (when it still looked like a stereotypical boxing gym: in an uninsulated warehouse in a seedy part of town) when I found out I was too young to lift at the Y. Technically, I was still too young to lift then (at 15) by the Chavez standard, but they demand less paperwork than the Y. Kind of half-assed my way through the gym until after college when I entered the Army. Free world-class gym a few steps from where I live filled to the brim with the fittest people in the planet, I really had to take it seriously.
Why I Love It:
I like the feeling of knowing I'm getting stronger and looking better. And the pump is a natural mood enhancer, so stress levels are decreased as well.
How I Stay Motivated:
A special person who I look forward to making happy in a few months. The mirror, especially when it tells me that I look alright. Old nasty pictures of me. APFTs, one of the few things in the Army that that is considered a true measure of being a Soldier. Trying to beat my commander's crossfit stats.
Thanks man. I'll probably give it another try sometime. Right now I'm doing a 6-day workout. Kickin' my butt too, just like CF. LOL, and this one got me close to puking today!
No, I'm here at Al Udeid. There are a few that are doing CrossFit. Had a couple coworkers drag me along but it just flat out kicked my butt. Figure I'll try and build some strength up before I try that again.
yeah im still training but a little different im cage fighting now so im alot leaner i try to stay about 165 to 170 and cut to 155 to fight. my first fight was at 170 (not good) my next was 155 you can see that one on youtube i lost but i looked good matt bradly vs. jay obenchain or obie
Good to hear from you. Wasn't sure what was going on. I've been staying with my plan all these months. Chinups and dips rule. Don't do much for the wheels though. Keep after it.
