I was in great shape in the mid-eighties when I taught aerobics at Bally's..it was called Jack La Lanne when I first started! My family eventually opened up a Spa Lady which I managed for a few years before returning to college. Through the years, I let my passion for fitness slide...and two pregnancies later...I was pretty flabby. I recently became a lacto-ovo vegetarian and figured it was the perfect time to get in shape. I want to see how far I can take this. I'd love to drop down to 15% body fat and then who knows what's next?
Why I Love It:
So far, it's helped with my lower back. I had an injury from Tae Kwon Do that acts up all the time. Now I can stand for a few hours and feel no pain in my back. I also love the way my muscles feel after a hard workout.
How I Stay Motivated:
I cultivate Tao daily, and I find living in the moment is a great strength in that it enables me to realize my insecurities are insignificant. I want to build a strong body because I want to see how strong my will is. Can I do this without allowing vanity to get in the way. Yes. This is about personal growth and determination...the act of doing. I look at all the success stories of women in my age bracket, and I've discovered bodybuilding is more than being vain about one's appearance. It's making the conscious effort to treat the body with respect and awe.

I'd like to move down to 10% body fat and gain some muscle. I'm shy, so I want to jump out of my comfort zone and eventually do a NPC contest. I'm shooting for next spring.
I started to do six days of cardio a week last week. I've really come to understand the meaning of intensity in cardio. Although I don't believe the calories lost in the digital readout, it's a great way to guage my progress.
I'm following the Body Code prescritption. I'm currently...
