When I Started:
How I Started:
I got started when I met my husband. He would wake up every morning at 5am (still does) and hit the gym, while I continued sleeping away. By the time I would wake up he had already worked out, eaten breakfast, showered and was ready to go to work. 4 months of that and I felt like the biggest slug on the planet. So I started waking up at 5am (even though I can't see until 10) and drug my tired old body along with my husband's. Then I started eating better, then I started working out on my own in the evenings (when I can finally see). And thus, my healthy life began.
Why I Love It:
I love body building and working out because it gives me a sense of self worth. I dedicate 30 - 60 minutes a day to myself and my body and nothing else. It feels good to be in tune with my body.
How I Stay Motivated:
Self-discipline has been part of me since I can remember, but my husband gives me the confidence I'm always lacking.
BB Accomplishments:
It might not seem like much, but I feel proud of myself every time I go downstairs to my basement gym and give some to my body.

It's not about being perfect. It's about being the best you.
I can't thank you enough on sharing your experiences and your words of encouragement! It really helps to find other women , especially like yourself, that really work hard and don't try to find some quick fix. Thank you!
What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
When your reason for working out and eating healthy is no longer for vanity, then you've changed your life.

What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
If you slip and eat bad for a day or skip your workout because your just too tired, then pick up the next day and move forward. If you can do that, you're in for life.

What do you do before your workout to get motivated and energized?
I grew up in Hawaii and lived in Kailua-Kona (although most people drop the 'Kailua' and just say 'Kona'). We had a cat who acted just like a dog... our animals must have been switched at birth or something. lol
You are absolutely right. And it sucks to see someone that you are close with be that simpleminded and undisciplined. Its such a simple priniple and yet it overtakes so many. Guess that means I just gotta work harder and let them see how wrong they are with the results I get. Give positive reinforcement by showing them my achievements and being supportive instead of judgemental. I think thats the best bet. Thanks for bein in my corner tho.
OUCH. A raptor eh? That doesn't sound fun at all. Then to blow the shoulder and stuff. Ya, I would say slow down and take it easy. The biggest part is sticking with it. I have had to slow down myself because of being sick for about 2 weeks. I haven't felt like doing much. Hang in there and get feeling better. Great to hear from you.
I'm glad you are doing the food diary...it REALLY makes a difference and is an eye opener in the beginning, isn't it?!...sounds like you are doing great!..my training is going well, I'm still learning a lot myself, it really does take time to figure out what works for you but is well worth the effort!...POST your progress pics! they are such a great motivator!!!
Your the best, most beautiful person I know! Certainly glad you decided to marry me. Keep up the good work, stay positive, and don't let others define you.
