I lived in Argentina from 1990 to 1992. I came back from there and I was thin (for me) at 175 lbs. I immediately put on 20 lbs from the change in diet from mostly meat to carbs. When I hit 200 lbs, I started working out at the local Gold's gym in Houston. Mostly I worked out to lose weight (lots of stairmaster). Over time, I started to work the weights harder and get bigger.
Why I Love It:
Hard work is followed by a payoff. It's not always immediate, but it's there.
How I Stay Motivated:
I see progress. I track the changes in my weight, body fat, and abilities. I made up a "Good Animal Index" that includes body fat, VO2 max, and strength index from gymamerica.com. Watching my progress in that measure is sweet. also, my wife is giving me quite favorable reviews, which is always a good thing.
BB Accomplishments:
The subcutaneous snow is melting. Spring has arrived and the ab hills are peeking through.
I was at about 227 or so. I had already lost 10 lbs, but had not started working on my diet much.
Is it? Could it be? Are those abs peeking through? If you get the light just right, turn up the contrast, a shadow peeks through. Jeez people, don't let yourselves go. It's really hard coming back. Worth it, but hard.
Tony, I would like to echo Capt Ahab's sentiments as well. BodySpace is full of amazing people who have excelled and produced mind boggling accomplishments. For you to pick me is indeed a humbling honor. Thanks, and feel free to ask me anything at anytime to help you reach your goals. Regards, Troy
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for saying that you find me inspirational. It is people like you at Bodybuilding.com that keep me inspired as well as allow me to believe that I can help make a difference in people’s lives.
Stay strong, focused and determined & may God bless.
If you really want to lose weight and get into great shape I believe it is best to follow a proven program otherwise you may end up wasting your time & energy. I lost over 50 lb’s and went from 36 to 10% bodyfat and my wife (bodyspace: judimax) went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6 in only 12 weeks by following the Body for Life program. Push yourself, possibly out of your comfort zone and you may be amazed at the results and how fast they happen. It will be well worth the effort.
Thanks... I think too many people lose sight on the entire picture, and forget that all the pieces make the whole... Good luck with all that you want to achieve...
Tony,
Thanks for the comment. I am trying real hard to get back into shape. Man it's a lot harder now than it was when I was 20. I hate having to deal with co-workers and their comments about the way I eat and what time I go to bed. Now matter how many times I try and explain, it's the same ole thing. "Why are you torturing yourself?"
Like eating good and exercising is torture. I mean I know I am always sore but it's a great feeling.
Anyway good luck with all of your goals.
