Overall Goal: I have been competing in the sport of body building since 2000. Now I find as much joy helping others. So, that seems to be my main goals these days. Just to help others get back in control of their lives.

In 1991 I started having problems with my lower back. I had ruptured my disc at the L-4 & L-5 & S-1 location. This caused some major sciatic nerve pain that would not subside. So, after many diagnostic tests my doctor felt getting in shape should be my first course of action not surgery.

Why I Love It:
I never dreamed this sport would grow on me like it has. As I said before I started training to get in shape. Then I started to go to body building shows with my wife. Many years later at a show Debbie (wife) says to me "You look as good as most guys up there. Why don't you give it a shot?"
I said I would wait till I was a master (40yr). I was not ready to be almost buck naked on stage just yet. She said "why wait you look good enough to compete in the open class now." So, she started telling people I was going to do my first body building show. At some point I had to commit and start the process, never realizing just how BIG a process it would become.
Fast forward to my first show: The Power House Classic 2000 in North Royalton, Oh. Long running big show. 22 middle weights in my class, I told Debbie that after getting my number at the weight in. We were like "What heck are we doing here?" We will have to wait and see what happens.
So, prejudging begins. Debbie says to me later "K, I watched one guy after another walk out on that stage and through they all look good and there was so many. Then I walked out and she realized I was looking just as good and maybe even better then most before me."
This was my first experience to any of this. Making the "First call outs" is what prejudging is all about. Yep, sure enough I was in that first top 5 guys called out. I was pumped. OK, fast forward to night show. Night show routine was fun and went well. Now back on stage for awards.
5th place number called (not me) 4th place number called (not me) 3rd place goes to Kerry Lind. I was shocked. So, the 39 year old who has been training in his basement for the last 9 years just beat 19 other younger guys? Why you ask do I love this sport? Need I say more?
How I Stay Motivated:
I have lived this body building lifestyle for so many years it's just part of me now. I really only give it 4 or 5 days a week now 45 minutes each day. I like to train. I'm not getting HUGE just staying in shape.
BB Accomplishments:
I started competing in 2000. Think I have been n 26 shows. Placed top 5 in all but 3 of them. In 2002 I won the Over all as a middle weight in the last Power House Classic. In 2005 I placed top 5 in the North Americas Open Middle weight and the Mens Master middle weights. 2 weeks later I won the Ohio State Championships over all title. Lastly in July of 2007 I won the master nationals middle weights with across the board 1st place scores. With my Crazy best shape ever. Body fat for a 46 year old man was 4.5%.

Goal (Long):
I have been in the NPC for 8 years. Competed in 26 plus shows. Moved up to the National level with some success. I'm finding now at 47 years of age I get more of a kick out of helping others. So, I'm spending less time thinking about what my next comp is and more time working with main stream people. Just to help them get control of there weight issues and live a healthier lifestyle. You can find me at.www.thelindgym.com. Look me up there.
For me I have been a basement trainer type guy for most of my training life. Never really knew what the outside world was thinking. Then I did get into the world of competition. From this point forward I learned real quick who I could share...
Your pictures are awesome, it is good to see someone my age with the body of a 25 year old BB (I hope he does not ask for it back). Keep up your hard work, it is very motivating to all the forty somethings.
