masters bodybuilding competition, qualify for Boston Marathon
Goal (Long):
Competed in first figure competition on 10/13/07 and took 2nd in Masters and 3rd in Novice! I ran my first full marathon on 10/20/07 and finished in 4:44:22. Next goal: compete in bodybuilding and run Vermont City Marathon with a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon (for 2010). Have to get past ACL injury and get back to running!
I was on track last year, feeling strong and confident; psyched about my training and my progress. Then I had an ACL strain in December while skiing. Backed off a bit with things, went to p/t, still optimistic. In January, had a second ACL strain, possibly a minor tear (no MRI). This...
UH OH....I hope the MRI is negative. ACL reconsruction recovery is a b!tch. I've been through 3. GOOD Luck. Keep me posted. I could probably rehab you on-line...LOL
Cravings suck! When I eat well I get cravings and my lifts go down. When I do not I still have cravings to eat WORSE and my strength goes up slowely. Marathons AND bodybilding...that will get up the appitite. Good luck and hats off to you!
Hit the wall? Change up your routine!!! Try a new routine for the next four weeks of all supersets. It will lean you out and they are fun!Go two days on one day off, keep cardio in there. Keep your focus on your next show and have fun. The key is really to keep your muscles guessing! change your routine up :-) Keep up the good work!!! and Train Insane!
What a great role model and example you are, not only to women of your age group but also to women (and men) of all age groups. You not only talk the talk but also definitely walk the walk and I congratulate you on your efforts. Continue to challenge yourself to be the best that you can be during each and every workout and believe in your own inner strength. I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing your continued progression in ’08.
GMM marathon is a tough one, was it windy? My long runs are usually Saturdays, because I work most Sundays from 10-12. I've been happy with my progress, and with myself.
I'm also running in the VCM. What time do you need to run to qualify for Boston? I'm hoping to go sub 4, and am shooting for 3:50. I'd like in 2009 to qualify for Boston, so I could be in the Boston 2010 field at age 50. When do you do your long runs? Do you have a long run partner?
You look amazing..! If you qualify for the Boston Marathon I'll come and cheer... I've run in the Burlington Marathon (2002) It was alot of fun but I didn't do too well (4 hours). Keep up the great work... I look forward to hearing of your progress.
