When I Started:
Mar, 2000
How I Started:
About a 6 months after I joined the Navy I gained 25 pounds. I was one pound away from being on the "fat kid program". Which was mandatory workouts 3 times a week. I was embarrassed my uniform didn't fit anymore and I wanted to make a change for the better!
Why I Love It:
I started running to lose weight. I could barley run a mile and half w/out stopping. In just a few weeks of running I was finishing a 3 mile loop "no stopping". I really enjoyed it. I would grab my music and just go. The pounds fell off. Thats why I loved it!
How I Stay Motivated:
My husband is in really good shape and we workout a lot together. I want to stay in shape to be able to keep up with him and his workouts. Our relationship was built on working out. Our first date was a mile swim and our second was a 6mile run. So, he really helps me to stay motivated. Plus, I want to look good for myself and him.
Also, a friend of mine and I started working out together and keeping track of each others workouts. That helps me to know that someone is interested in what I am doing. We kind of keep each other in check. I feel guilty if she works out and I dont! haha :-) Shes very knowledgable in meal planning and what foods to eat that help fuel your body. She has helped me a lot in that area.
BB Accomplishments:
I just started weight training and had only focused on running. So, I have run a lot races half marathon, a few 10ks and lots of 5ks. My goal now-to compete in the "Crossfit Games".
I want to be leaner but have strength! To be honest, I want to be able to do a dang pullup! I just dont have that strength in my back or arms.
:-)
Im a runner w/ light weight experience. I started doing crossfit and I love it. I just want to add in more weights so I can gain more strength. My body type is 'apple'. So, I have very thin legs and carry most of my fat on my tummy and arms. I want to lean out my arms and stomach so I can wear tank-tops and be comfortable.
