How I Started:
I lifted in high school but stopped when I graduated. Since then I've done mostly cardio with a few machines thrown in for good measure. I packed on weight when I started dating a guy who liked plump girls (he shovelled food into me nonstop, the horror!!! :D) I picked it back up again when my fiance and I started getting serious. He is a bodybuilder and his energy motivates me a great deal.

What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
I think the mistakes I made were: 1) being scared of free weights and 2) form.

Use your free personal trainer session at the gym to get the proper form down.

I work out mostly with my fiance. And I sometimes work out with my female friends who request that I help them.
