When I Started:
Jan, 2009
How I Started:
Got hooked into fitness and working out in my early thirties -- running competitively and working out at the gym. Have stayed with the gym on and off the last 10 years...more in "maintenance mode" than with any significant focus. Decided to get more committed at the start of this year after looking in the mirror and not feeling happy about what I was seeing.
Why I Love It:
I like the structure and focus...creating a workout routine and dedicating time and energy each week to getting stronger and looking better. It feels great to be able to lift more weight or do more reps each week and to see changes (even small ones) in my body.
How I Stay Motivated:
I set goals for each week and month and focus on step-by-step accomplishments. Looking at other bodyspace profiles also helps, especially those among us in the 40+ crowd who've made some impressive transformations. If they can do it, so can I!
BB Accomplishments:
Well, nothing major (yet). But at the start of this year I had never done a squat or a deadlift in my life, and now I can crank out 4-5 sets of each at 215lbs, which feels great!
