Well, I used to be a hardcore athlete, and I stopped because I got injured. Then life got in the way, I got married..and separated, and food became my best friend. I gained 40 lbs. I am now 15lbs overweight and out of shape, and I couldn't handle it anymore, so with the help of a friend, I've begun what he likes to call my "lifestyle change" and I'm very excited about it!
Why I Love It:
I have more energy, it's a great way to get frustrations out, I'm not as tired, and it makes me want to get out and do stuff rather than sitting at home and eating.
How I Stay Motivated:
I love my new-found energy. It's my motivation. I've started getting out and joining in different activities that I enjoy, and when I'm doing something I enjoy, it's very easy to stay motivated.
I also stay motivated by working out with my best friend, who is trying to get back in shape as well. He's been a great support.
BB Accomplishments:
I'm not bodybuilding, I'm getting back into shape and toning up. So, I ran 2 miles on the treadmill without stopping once, which doesn't seem like much, but it is for me. Yay me!

What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Don't give up, no matter how hard it seems. I've given up so many times, and it's never gotten me anywhere good. Persistence is the key to success. Any progress is good progress.

Do you tell your friends and/or family about your fitness goals?
Yes
Why or why not?
I don't tell them about all of them. Sometimes I like to surprise people. When I do tell people though, its so I can get feedback on how to better my goals, or to get information on how to reach my goals. How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
I find I don't need to sleep as much. I have more energy to get out and do activities with friends. I have more energy to chase my niece and nephew around. I keep my entire life more organized when I feel good from working out and eating healthy.I find I don't need to sleep as much. I have more energy to get out and do activities with friends. So, it's been a while since I've been on this site. I went through a rough time for a bit and kind of fell off the wagon when it came to working out and eating properly. In fact, when it all happened, I started eating WAY too much. I gained 10 lbs, up to 195. Then, things changed for the worse...
