How I Started:
I have been involved in sports since 7th grade but it wasn't until college that I started to get serious about lifting and not until late 2008 that I decided I wanted to take it to the next level.
Why I Love It:
I just enjoy lifting because of the positive effects it has both mentally and physically. I work hard to improve my confidence and love my body.
How I Stay Motivated:
I think of where I came from as a heavy-set child and how far I've come and where I want to be. Thinking of the progress I've made so far encourages me to keep working hard so I can finally be satisfied with myself.

Goal (Long):
As a child I was always on the heavy side. Even when I got involved in sports in 7th grade I remained heavy. Since then I have always struggled with my self-esteem/confidence and have been very shy and embarassed by my body. When I went away to college the increased activity of being on a varsity team really helped to get me in better shape. Following the lifting programs over the summers that coaches gave me I saw my strength increase and I lost some weight. I maintained for 3 years then lost a little more my senior year. Coming out of college I got a job and spent time at the gym always trying to slim down. I dropped a little more weight and have been focusing the last few years on achieving a physique that I can love and be satisfied with. I want to get away from hiding all the time and be confident and proud of my hard work. Late in 2008 I picked up my training and dieting and was able to slim down. Now I am trying to get to that next level and achieve the happiness I have been searching for!
