jzomberg created the 0 A Surgery Can't Keep Me Down BodyGroup.
Why I Started This Group: I looked everywhere for people who have had a spinal fusion surgery ( for me it was L4 and L5 ) and were still able to live a life of heavy lifting. Since I could not find anyone, I decided to be the person that would provide the inspiration for those who feel that the road to recovery after an operation is an endless one.

Muscle Memory... So, I was cleared to go back to the gym on the 20th of August 2012. Here is what I looked like RIGHT before my first day back in the gym. (Notice how much muscle tone I lost. I feel like the gains are coming back at a good rate, people are starting to notice and I am slowly but surely getting comments like "that's a big... Go to BodyBlog

Here is where I was at literally 4 days before I officially ruptured my disc: Here is back view. (Don't mind the cluttered sink.) Now, keep in mind this was after only 1 year of dedicating a... jzomberg created a new BodyBlog entry "The Operation".
The Operation I wanted to include a few pictures of the MRI's I had done and me post surgery. Look closely, you can see where the disc is bulging. The white spot in the middle is my spinal canal, it is suppose to be that big. Here is the MRI image of the ruptured site. Where is the white?!?! Post-Surgery hardware. Go to BodyBlog
jzomberg created a new BodyBlog entry "Spinal Fusion Surgery SUCKS!".
In January of 2012 I got the worse news ever... but before I get into that, lets back up a little. I was always active in sports. I played football in high school and threw the discus/shot put year around for school and for summer leagues. In 2004 I herniated a disc in my lower back, L4 - L5. I was never the same again. I spent time in a wheelchair, bed-ridden, and finally had to use a cane for a while. The pain was horrible, but my fear of surgery was strong. I... Go to BodyBlog
