Overall Goal: I'd like to get my weight down to 140, and my bodyfat to 14% at the most. It will be easier to reach contest shape if I start there. Ideally I'd like to make weight for the middle weight class, which is under 125. Got about 22 lbs to go.
Fit Status:
I am trying to hike/run at least 3 days a week. I weight train at least 4 Xs a week, add'l cardio on the eliptical immediately following.

When I Started:
2006
How I Started:
I started lifting weights when I was about 19, but didn't become serious about competing until January 2006. That January I decided I was going to enter the 2007 Vancouver Natural. I have always had more muscle than the average female; probably from all those years of carrying water buckets and hay bales for my horses. So I figured I might as well do something with my size and shape.
Why I Love It:
I love to see progress! It is so incredible to watch your body transform as you diet and exercise. Working out makes me feel good (healthy). When I don't workout, I have chronic back pain.
How I Stay Motivated:
If I have goals, I am motivated. That's why I plan on competing again in 2009. I have used this goal to motivate me to add some size to my chest, legs and shoulders. Enjoying exercise really helps. I try to do most of my cardio outside so I can enjoy the scenery and my dogs can come along. We look forward to our daily runs and hikes!
BB Accomplishments:
I won the overall in the Novice Division at the 2007 Vancouver Natural. I got 4th in the open division at the 2007 Empire Classic. Not a bad place to start in the open, but I hope to improve my physique before entering another show.

Goal (Long):
I have been working hard to shape my shoulders, chest and legs. Now it's all about getting the fat off.
Well, my contest is finally over. I came in much chubbier than I should have, but still managed to place 3rd in my first ever attempt at Figure, and 2nd in Bodybuilding. I was extremely happy with the turnout and the placings seemed fair. All things considered, I am pretty proud of myself. I...

Barb: Sexy, muscular physique, and you are strong as an ox.
Hey Barb; Your pics are looking awesome. Good luck with your workouts and competitions. BTW, I've been to beautiful Cour D.A. Lake which gave me my first ever suntan as a kid (lol). Best wishes, Scott
You're not required to do anything-if you qualify for Nationals you aren't required to compete at that level, just as competing in Nationals doesn't mean you can't compete at a local contest again. If I took a fat burner or not at night, I was still always sleepy after doing cardio. They effect people differently.
Before competing, I research the rules and procedures of my federation (NPC) and contest promoters so I would know what to do and how to plan my competition season/goal. :-)
