Rockland Senior High Attended 1991 to 1995 Rockland, Massachusetts United States
When I Started:
Nov, 1998
How I Started:
My senior year in college I realized that while not overweight, I was not where I wanted to be physically. I joined an all women's gym, had a friend help me with a beginners weight program and that was the beginning of a very healthy obsession.
Why I Love It:
It makes me "HAPPY," seriously. Working out helps me relax. Even if I feel I'm not looking my best, if I had a good workout I feel better emotionally and physically. I am my #1 competitor and every amout of progress is another victory.
How I Stay Motivated:
I'm no longer having a hard time getting and staying motivated. I've made enough gains that I feel like I'm back on track. My definition and muscle has started to reappear and my diet has improved.
My husband is agreat support for me. It helps that he likes to eat clean and lifts hard. When we go to the gym together he's a great spotter and pushes me.
Just going to work is a motivator. I have to listen to co-workers complain all day about their weight and diet, yet they do very little about it. This actually makes it easy to stick with eating whatever I packed in my cooler for the day.
BB Accomplishments:
Just personal ones, no competitions

Other than the obvious benefits (appearance, health, etc.), how has bodybuilding and fitness improved your overall life?
It has developed my mental stamina. My patience has improved considerably, although some may say not (they didn't know me before :))

How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
I was into fitness prior to getting married, and it hasn't changed much since. If I wasn't into fitness, I doubt my husband and I ever would have even gotten together: We met: IN THE GYM!

What are your personal NON-FITNESS life goals?
To finish turning my house into a home (there is a big difference). Travel a little bit, I'm more of a homebody, but I do like to get away. In general I'm pretty lucky. I have a great family, I enjoy my work. It may sound like a rut to some, but it doesn't feel like one to me.To finish turning my house into a home (there is a big difference). Well tonight is my night off. Four great workouts including 2 pretty heavy leg workouts. I'm finally feeling pretty confident at the gym and am actually going to start throwing in shrugs again as well. If it hurts I'll stop. I never did add in lunges so I'll have to do that in my next...
These are all subject to change at the whim of ME
Usually between 3-4 sets per exercise and right now between 6-10 reps per set. My days off switch depending on my daily schedule.
