I've wanted to be a massive bodybuilder since I was four years of age. Although I may never accomplish this, I did get up to 221 and recently cut down for a bodybuilding contest. After weighing the pro's and con's, I decided against it with 4 weeks out. The main influencing factor was my loss of interest combined with lack of money (literally). Aside from that, I still would like to see an increased arm size of perhaps 19" or 20". I am not too worried about how much I can lift since I know my strength will increase with size. Hopefully by summer I will be a couple pounds from my goal of 215 with 7% bodyffat.
Right now I'm doing 4 sets of 9 (4x9 is a break from the usual) but will be increasing to 5 sets of 9 (5x9: the usual). I do 4x9 to conserve energy for about two months at a time then back to 5x9. 5x9 is used during bulking and cutting, but mainly bulking.Right now I'm doing 4 sets of 9 (4x9 is a break from the usual) but will be increasing to 5 sets of 9 (5x9: the usual). How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
My rest is no more than 90 seconds (on light, a few more seconds on heavy) inless I have a workout partner that's discovering the meaning of life. I get more out of my workouts when I rest but not for too long.My rest is no more than 90 seconds (on light, a few more seconds on heavy) inless I have a workout partner that's discovering the meaning of life. Which pro bodybuilder/fitness/figure competitor has the ideal physique? Why?
I'd have to say Frank McGrath again, wins hands down. He's got an excellent physique and muscle in every place possible.
Alright, so this week I interviewed an all natural pro bodybuilder for an extension agent class assignment. We also talked about bodybuilding show dieting and the like. I emailed him my daily diet on excel and he concluded that I needed to eat less and introduce cardio to my life. ...
My workout program variates little in body parts but will vary a lot in exercises. I will randomly take an 'off day' due to my busy schedule. The program I'm doing right now involves one muscle group a day with the exception of arms. I will keep the same weight throughout the exercise. ...
Thanks for your back cable fly video. I gave it a try in the gym this morning it was really great. It was at the end of my supplemental shoulder workout. I had to work it hard just to hit 10 reps with just the plate. Super addition to my workouts.
Oklahoma Muscle. You have definately gained more mass and less fat. Talkin bout you traps. Outstanding! And your pec's..control'em and learn how to make'em bounce. joqthev, you're a BB.com body guy.
Cool blog on etiquette thanks for posting. One of the reasons I workout so early in the morning is that the people at that hour are serious. I went on a Saturday once where a guy was just whipping plates off the bar and letting them drop off the ends. It rolled to my area curled around and bumped my ankle. No harm, but I was so angry.
You're welcome - keep up the great work and there will be more postive comments in the future. Btw, are you hoping to give competition a try again in the future? I remember that you weren't able to compete earlier like you hoped and I was just curious. Keep up the great work!
Yeah, Pioneer's top line (feels like hammerstrength now)...The owner actually invinted the line. Dumbells up to 150lbs. And a powerlifting corner with rubber plates. One of the most hardcore gyms here. That's why I go. All other places are for sissies, like Planet Fitness.
If you're ever up this way, you can train at my gym as a guest for free. I always hate traveling cause you have to pay some extorted price to some gym even if you're only going to utilize it like a day or two. Like when I come home I dunno where to train. My mom goes to bodyworks...haen't been to that gym in 10yrs. I used to train at the RockHouse, and competed in the Iron Games.. it was the only hardcore gym in town.
