Fit Status:
Entering my first Lifting Competition to take place October 24
I have always had the workout bug but it was usually just running and working out whenever it was convenient. It wasn't until about a year ago I learned the importance of combining a high protein diet with good slow burning carbs to maximize the benefit of my efforts in the gym. Once I realized I was seeing changes as a result I was hooked. I look forward to making more improvements in 2009
Why I Love It:
I enjoy the way I feel when I work out....It is like a natural high when I do it.....I'm hooked....now that I found body space I have a nifty tool to focus in on what needs improving.
How I Stay Motivated:
not much of a problem for me....I am very much a routine kind of person and thrive on getting into a groove. I will tune into one of my favorite bodybuilders Lee Hayward for additional advice and motivation at his blog spot.

BB Accomplishments:
Just learning what it takes to grow and lean out....it's very interesting and much more technical than I imagined.

This is what jogging 5 times per week and a crappy diet with occasional gym visits got me.
I wasn't perfect but the results from my efforts inspired me to want more. I think I learned allot from my first 12 weeks and I am looking forward to taking that knowledge into my next personal challenge starting January 1.

As I'm sure you've found there are actually quite a few of us "mature" men among all the kids here! It's tough to find like minded guys in the "real" world though. Thanks again!
Thanks for the info on the 5x5 - I'm currently doing something closer to a 10x10 (low weight/high volume) but I'm ready to move back into the higher weights again. Keep up the great work and good luck with your running, too!
You are to kind - my bodyfat is way too high, but I appreciate the comment, too. Lean looks very good on you and I'm sure everyone you meet is impressed even if they don't say anything. How did you like the 5x5 by the way? I've been thinking of giving that type of workout a try myself.
Hey John you've made quite a change. It is amazing how your diet impacts you. Good luck achieving the rest of your goals and hopefully I will see similiar progress. So far so good. I see Winthrop on your profile. Is that Winthrop Uni? CV
