Overall Goal: Gain at least 10 more pounds equalling 230lbs in my office season. Then compete this May shredded to the bone!!
Fit Status:
I am currently dedicating this year to bulking clean and gaining serious mass.
Motivation Level: 10/10
Personal Info And Background:
Real Name:
John Jordan
Sex:
Male
Age:
28
Location:
Indiana, United States
Occupation:
Systems Analyst
Personal Website:
Primary Gym:
College:
High School:
When I Started:
1998
How I Started:
I started out the same way most people do. I worked out for sports and got addicted to seeing my body change. You set your goals small and when you reach them it's never good enough. Next thing you know you're a bodybuilder.
Why I Love It:
In the bible it says that our physical body does not belong to us, but is given to us by God and is a temple. Since thats the case I vow to return my body healthier, stronger, more powerful, and ripped than I received it. Because our body is a temple we are to glorify God with it and sitting around the house eating potato chips (getting fat), drinking, or doing drugs is not the answer.
How I Stay Motivated:
To get real results, bodybuilding has to take place outside of the gym. You can have more intensity or weight than anyone in history, but if the diet is off, so is your physique. I have made working out my lifestyle. I stay motivated because it is who I am.
BB Accomplishments:
- Working out on bench press, 100
pounds over my body weight.
- Concentrating on my whole body and
not just Chest and Arms.
- Competed in my first competition.

What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
I worked out at my house and did Bench every workout. My routine never changed and I did it everyday. Next thing you know my shoulders started popping and my elbows were starting to get tendonitis.

What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler did not get big by doing the same routine day in and day out. Ronnie, Jay, and I do some of the same lifts and yet I am not as big as they are. Working out is the easy part. What you do outside the gym (diet) determines your progress in the gym. Also, growing happens when recovering from a workout not during, so if your hitting chest everyday you are not growing, because you are never repairing. Nate and I both have our memberships at Cardinal. Only other option on the east side is the Y, and I left there due to all the screaming kids. I wish a Lifetime would open on the east side... seems like an underserved area for gyms.
right. im going to stay within 15lbs of contest weight this year. i dropped 35lbs this time around, and i should have been leaner. i dont want to do that again. you are right about motivation for sure, i dont see why more people dont compete if they are already halfway committed
Thanks man. I took second in the open shirt and third in the novice 1. I gotta couple things to work on and get leaner next time. This was my first OCB show so I know what to expect now.I will be in the Indiana next year for sure You are lookin good man. Good luck at the circle city. We should be there watching.
I feel like I put on some lean mass this year, and not done yet. We're doing a 10-8-6 routine for most sets, going up in weight as the reps decrease. Then finish with some high rep burnouts. Killer so far! BTW, when did Julian last compete? Hmmm...
Head Judge Julian told Mark his paint job looked like he had rolled it dirt! Nate's already thought like you, maybe wait for the fall show... I'm still aiming for the Circle City.
Were you there? I didn't see you! Yeah, seems like the fall show is gonna be smaller. Some good guys and gals, but I expected more. Lance mighta beat that guy to get his pro card. And judging was fun, but hard work. Writing copious notes on everyone! And few came up after to hear what we had to say!
I'm not sure what the rest of the week brings. I gotta lift early due to work tomorrow. Maybe deltsand traps or legs on Thursday... will let u know once I talk with Nate later today at the gym.
Nate was also a no show, but Mikey and I hit chest real good. Presume something came up for you (your voice mail is inactive). No worries. Still wanna get a lift in with you when we can.
I have your #, so I will update you on Sunday if there are any changes to the plan. Probably 5:30 on Monday at Golds. We'll get you in this time, DON'T pay a fee!
Seth is lance's lifting buddy, won the pro qualifier down in Evansville last month (his first comp!). He is armzilla81 here on bodyspace. Lance trains like a monster, but you can keep up I'm sure.
Yes, Golds. Could be a chest-a-thon! Lance, Seth, Nate, me and Mike. Probably split into two teams, if Lance and Seth hit it with us! Will be a sight to see!
I know it's short notice, but we're hitting delts and traps today at 5. Legs tomorrow, arms Friday (probably at 3ish, if you want an excuse to leave work early!) Would be fun to hit it with you again.
