Overall Goal: Muscle recomposition time...Out with the fat in with the muscle.
Fit Status:
I am currently dedicating this year to bulking clean and gaining serious mass.
Motivation Level: 10/10
Personal Info And Background:
Real Name:
John Jordan
Sex:
Male
Age:
28
Location:
Indiana, United States
Occupation:
Systems Analyst
Personal Website:
Primary Gym:
College:
High School:
When I Started:
1998
How I Started:
I started out the same way most people do. I worked out for sports and got addicted to seeing my body change. You set your goals small and when you reach them it's never good enough. Next thing you know you're a bodybuilder.
Why I Love It:
In the bible it says that our physical body does not belong to us, but is given to us by God and is a temple. Since thats the case I vow to return my body healthier, stronger, more powerful, and ripped than I received it. Because our body is a temple we are to glorify God with it and sitting around the house eating potato chips (getting fat), drinking, or doing drugs is not the answer.
How I Stay Motivated:
To get real results, bodybuilding has to take place outside of the gym. You can have more intensity or weight than anyone in history, but if the diet is off, so is your physique. I have made working out my lifestyle. I stay motivated because it is who I am.
BB Accomplishments:
- Working out on bench press, 100
pounds over my body weight.
- Concentrating on my whole body and
not just Chest and Arms.
- Competed in my first competition.

What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
I worked out at my house and did Bench every workout. My routine never changed and I did it everyday. Next thing you know my shoulders started popping and my elbows were starting to get tendonitis.

What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler did not get big by doing the same routine day in and day out. Ronnie, Jay, and I do some of the same lifts and yet I am not as big as they are. Working out is the easy part. What you do outside the gym (diet) determines your progress in the gym. Also, growing happens when recovering from a workout not during, so if your hitting chest everyday you are not growing, because you are never repairing. Biggest challenge is finding a well lit place to shoot pix. No where decent at the gym! We start cutting in two weeks, so progress pix are forthcoming. No really. Honest. Okay, maybe...
John, as of right now I am sitting at 199 pounds, 11% bodyfat, with a show in April. When would you recommend to start dieting. I also just starting doing Layne Norton's Power/Hypertrophy Split this week. Lagging bodyparts-hamstrings,calves,fo rearms.
Great! Thanks so much for your help/advice. Quick question. I feel I have good mass for my size right now besides a couple lagging areas. But with me being 5'11" what would you say I need to weigh in off season. Right now I am only 200. I'm leaner than most with that weight. I just don't know if going into pre-contest if im going to be surprised if I sacrifice some mass while cutting.
How are you man! Its been a long while since I hit you up. I've been researching alot of Tom Venuto and Layne Nortons material. Theres a natural texas show in April and one in July, I am very excited to participate in one. I'd love to hit you up later on for input on some training advice
Busted! Probably taking pix of me and Naters this Saturday after we hit legs. BTW, don't see any new ones of you posted either! LOL! BTW, Circle City is May 22nd!
Nate and I both have our memberships at Cardinal. Only other option on the east side is the Y, and I left there due to all the screaming kids. I wish a Lifetime would open on the east side... seems like an underserved area for gyms.
right. im going to stay within 15lbs of contest weight this year. i dropped 35lbs this time around, and i should have been leaner. i dont want to do that again. you are right about motivation for sure, i dont see why more people dont compete if they are already halfway committed
