When I Started: Apr 2005

Feeling good after back workout yesterday

Yesterday I had my first heavy lifting back workout since my hand injury a month ago. Started off with 5 sets of deadlifts. Went up to 255x12 and 275x9, and felt pretty good. Then I did one arm rows, focusing this time primarily on form and contracting my upper back muscles by lowering the weight I normally do. I think on this exercise I tend to just heave the weight up without really thinking about working the back muscles, which I think will end up using your biceps more than your back. Finally, I did some wide grip pull ups to finish off the back. Today my rhomboids and lower back are achin...

Another Setback

[View Photo] Cut my hand recently and got 8 stitches right above my index finger knuckle. I got it in a splint right now and can't really do anything that requires two hands. Don't know how long it'll be before I can do any upper body work. Seems like everytime I make good progress with record lifts there's a big setback. Last time I got swine flu, and now this. All I can do is to try to stay positive.

Bench Progress

I've been doing the 5x5 program for bench press for about 2 months. So far I've increased my bench 15lbs for the same 5 reps. Started at 195lbs for 5 reps. Now I'm at 210lbs for 5 reps. At 185lbs I can currently do 10 reps. Goal is to reach 1rm of 300lbs by the end of the year... possible, but I'll have to be consistent. I plan to mix in floor reps when I hit plateaus and help me with my sticking point. Also I've been doing a lot of dips to try and bring out my lower pecs. I bought a power tower during Black Friday almost solely for being able to do dips in my home gym. That and I needed a new...

eatsleeplift247 yeah, been to 3 gyms already haha. there's one named KONAMI, which is actually the game company. it's pretty amazing how it's wired up, having digital displays of rate of speed through the range. they also have these bracelets that are scanned per machine that record sets and reps for you. cool stuff. i'm still exploring opportunities here and yes, i'm all finished with schooling. ...for now, haha. darksaiyan Man you did your thing in the gym! As for my weight I was going to keep bulking till March 15th. It looks like I won't make it tho. I moved form NYC to my home town Philly this month so my work out been messed up and eating. But the last 2 weeks I been going hard so If i get to 180 I'll be happy. I'll try for 190 next off-season.
