I've been working out since I was 4 years old, as my dad owned a Karate school. I started seriously training with weights and cardio in 1999 and was in fierce shape, however 4 years ago I let it all go during a bad relationship. Now I'm on my way back and beyond.
Why I Love It:
I love feeling healthy and strong.
How I Stay Motivated:
Know what the alternative is and NOT wanting to go back to it. I've hated going to the gym some days, but I just GET there and just do it. Once I'm working out and once I'm done I always feel glad that I did it.
BB Accomplishments:
I've went from an obese 235 lbs to a much leaner and fit 185. I've made significant gains in lean muscle mass and look to drop my body fat percentage as much as possible!
I'm back in shape—2008 has been such a transforming year for me! I'm 50 lbs less and working on getting shredded.
Goal (Long):
I put a lot on over the past 4 years from terrible eating, a sedentary life in an office, and little to no exercise in a bad relationship. To make matters worse, any lean muscle I gained from 1999-2004 was all but lost from numerous low cal/fasting diets. Now, my main goal is to build/preserve lean muscle and drop body fat and change my lifestyle overall.
Update: Since February 2008, I've changed my entire lifestyle. I exercise every day, and balance between lifting and running. I also have returned to martial arts and training in Shotokan karate again. It feels great to be strong and healthy, finally. I'll never turn my back on a healthy lifestuyle again, and for the first time I'm actually doing it right.
Now, it's time to get SHREDDED!
I'm officially caffeine free, but it's been a hell of a ride to get here. How has this affected trainign, you ask? Well, I've certainly had more of an appetite for sweets and carbs, and although I don't see or feel much diferent, I definitely feel more bloated. I've tried to combat that with...
Day 1 - Chest & Triceps
Day 2 - 25-45 minutes of cardio
Day 3 - Back & Biceps
Day 4 - 25-45 minutes of cardio
Day 5 - Shoulders & Abs
Day 6 - Legs
Day 7 - 25-45 minutes of cardio
Hey guy, I saw your progress pics. I'm glad your making your way to your goals. Keep up the hard work. I had a rough week since work threw me out of my normal routine.
Oo nooo having the flu is no fun at all! You might consider just taking a few days off just to give your body a chance to try and get over it! Hope your feeling better soon :)
haha..just keep doing what your doing and things will happen, lift heavy, eat right, be consistent and i have no doubts you will get where you want to be!:)
haha, i'm starting to dread cardio now, these double sessions and stuff are really starting to get to me. I need to refocus and not think about the time so much :)
Hey man, thought I'd share a little of what has worked for me. I've been taking calcium citrate...a highly absorbable kind of calcium. In addition, I've been using CLA, a collection of good fatty acids. It was recommended to be since I did not want a jittery fat burner. It took about 3 weeks to kick in, but I think the CLA did help out.
well welcome to bb.com! it's great i'm so hooked, the people here are so great they really give you a lot of support. well i wish you the best in your journey to a great you!
Joey: Wanting to and being serious enough to do what is required are two different things. If you are really serious about losing weight and getting into great shape I believe it is best to follow a proven program otherwise you may end up wasting your time & energy. I was able to lose over 50 lb’s going from 36% to 10% bodyfat and my wife (bodyspace: judimax) went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6 in only 12 weeks by following the Body for Life program. Let me know if you wish more info.
Hey Joey!... you've come to the right place to chat about fitness!... Welcome to BodySpace and thanks for the add back... Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions... Take care, Bert
