My Workout Philosophy View My Full Workout Program

Mostly lifting

I like to lift medium to heavy 8 to 12 reps where I'm near failure at the end.  I struggle wtih gettting cardio in even though I only intend to do short duration cardio.  I have some plans to work on this.  I track my workouts using an Excel spread sheet.  It's important in sellecting the weights I'm going to lift.

Paleo mostly

I'm mostly on paleo but I will eat some of the forbiden foods on weekends when family feeds them to me.  I have found that I'm not loosing fat on it but I also eat all I want too with really no limits at all. I think I'd have to limit fat intake just a bit to loose fat.

Protein

Most of the time, I get enough protein in my diet but 210g is a lot to shoot for.  With that, I sometimes take a powder.  I'll use whey if it is near a workout and casien if it is not.  sometimes I'm blending the two.

I get motivated when I look at images of others who have lean fit boddies.  The sight of muscles makes me want to work mine.  Sometimes writing a blog post does the trick too.

joecushing created a new BodyBlog entry "Keep Bulking or Lean Out?".

In two months, I'll be at the end of my planned fall/winter/spring bulk.  Summer will be coming and shirtless times will come along with that.  I'll be 224 pounds and 6 pounds away from what I think is going to be my goal weight.  My plan had been to stop bulking at the 1st of may and maintain my weight over the summer--maybe allow it to drop a bit, so that I'll be leaner for summer beach time.  On the other hand, with only 6 pounds to go, I could be at my goal weight after... Yesterday, the only carbs I ate were in broccoli, a small orange, and a pear.  The day before that, was similar.  If you read in the Primal Blueprint, Mark recommends less than 150g and preferably less than 100g of carbs a day.  Yesterday, I had about 40 grams of carbs.  Your brain uses 35 grams by itself.  Anything less than that is a Ketogenic diet.  Of course your body is capable of getting all of the carbs it needs to be healthy from protein synth... Today, My workout partner came over.  It's the first weight lifting we've done in a while. I Did other stuff like stairs and the snow man but over the last several weeks but I haven't had a strong commitment to weights since August.  I got knocked off kilter by physical therapy.  I tried to lift all fall but I was frustrated and just not with it.  I finally stopped around December.  Today, I started again.  I'm heavier now too, so I have some more body tissue to... paulski45 I saw aug 9 th pic , very good . I rest about 5 or 6 days between arm work outs.... i normally do 4 x 8 reps seated incline barbell curl, followed by 4 x 8 - 12 e-z bar curls, bicep machine same, and then another bicep exercise, i usually mix them up by another 5 sets 8 - 12 reps, I mix up the routine by doing a couple weeks heavier, less reps, and the next couple weeks lighter, more reps and so on..... seems to look good in the gym after but then deflate as the day goes by :( Nov 8, 2012 1:20pm

Jomyra I try many different training splits to keep my body guessing. In doing so many bodyparts in one day the goal is to keep the weight load heavy while doing only 2 exercises per body part. Im also getting the benefit of hitting my entire body 2x a week. Only doing this for 3 weeks then changing things back up again. Sep 28, 2012 7:26am

Nkmedack Haha yes I am very tall! My husband is 5'8 lol. So listen to this: Going on a week juicing detox. Best friend has her own juicing company. Decided to go vegetarian and eat raw foods from now on. I'm basically a vegetarian already. Eat chicken but don't love it. Let you know how it goes! Sep 2, 2012 8:14pm
