When I Started:
How I Started:
I was born deaf and uses sign language as my primary communication method but it does not hold me back from having conversations with anyone! I got into lifting when I was a high school kid back in 2001, was tired of how I feel and look every day. One day, I got a Christmas present from one of my mom's co-worker Tim, a membership pass to Bally's and I knew it would be a life-changing experience. Now, four years later, I do not look back because I am proud of myself. In four years, I grew from being skinny of 181 pounds to the 253 lbs of muscles. I am looking forward to work out more every day and keeping my nutrition intake clean!
Why I Love It:
Because of how workouts kick my butt, motivating myself to keep going strong, breaking new personal records, increasing muscle size, seeing the body transforming weekly... it's the life of gym rat or bodybuilder!
How I Stay Motivated:
God's words and people's remarkable stories about their transformations.

I want to get my body shifted to 270 pounds of lean mass with about 6% bodyfat, so I can get ready to come back and try bodybuilding competitions next year in 2010! Wish me luck and I will start updating photos in progress pictures' section! Other goal, to grow my legs and give it a balance to my upper body!
He is going to be one of most dangerous contenders on stage in 2010! His insights to bodybuilding is amazing, and I continue to learn from him. He is one of most inspiring athletes here on BodySpace, because he values his friends and strangers by giving advice and an understanding approach to bodybuilding! Thank you Aaron!
He is one of men, that takes his time to help others by giving them advice and he is one of most intelligent individuals I have met. He will go far down in his path and achieve every goal he sets his eyes on. Check him out, he is going to compete next year (2010) and recently signed with Optimum Nutrition! Congratulations!
What do you do before your workout to get motivated and energized?
I would look at either inspirational quotes or look at men in magazines and realizing that I can achieve my own goals because these men have done it. Most of time, I look back in my past and remind myself that I want to continue striving for the best health I can possibly be and live a longer life.I would look at either inspirational quotes or look at men in magazines and realizing that I can achieve my own goals because these men have done it. Do you have any type of chronic disease or condition?
It is not going to be hard for me to write this post, but I need to give you a warning. This is going to be one of long posts you will ever read. My point of writing this blog is doing my best I can to show everyone what experiences are like in my life as a deaf individual...
Keep at it man and stay focused. I am continuing to make progress, buddy. I currently am switching things up in order to avoid the plateau. Unfortunately having a very small gym to work in is a little of a negative. Keep in touch, bro.
Thank you so very much Joshua!!! Hee-hee, I hear ya on the cardio thing! I don't agree with the off-season being a free for all where any food goes. Stay strong!!!
That does appear to be a lot of weight. If you have someone to monitor your body fat, then you would know if what you are gaining is good mass. You have a good frame for this sport. Standing at 6'1" will be very impressive. Motor on!!! =)
What appear to be flaws to some people shine like BLESSINGS to others. You have been blessed, Joshua, with a great love for mankind! Your special abilities will touch people in ways that you cannot comprehend yet. You have so much to give. Your spirit is pure.
May God continue to bless you on this journey.
Press forward and keep plowing many beautiful fields because you are a beautiful person through and through.
Josh, you made me cry first thing this morning. Happy tears though. That was such an incredible gift you bestowed; to place me on your "inspirational people" list! I just can't thank you enough. I'm just so humbled and incredibly happy!
Hey, man thanks for the add. Yeah, I'm trying to lose some body fat so I can get more distinct definition between my bicep/delts, inner chest as well as the lower abs. Any tips would be appreciated, bro. Again, you're doing great work!
