When I Started:
Nov, 2007
How I Started:
I've done weight training on/off for a number of years. I used to work out so that I could eat whatever I wanted, but now I have to monitor my eating habits and work out b/c @ 40+ the metabolism changes. In March 07 shortly after I began dating a body builder I felt self conscience and wanted to improve my overall figure. However, I got serious when I began working with a trainer Nov. '07 b/c shaping up is now a priority.
Why I Love It:
I like the feeling I get when I have trained hard. It's also a great stress reducer.
How I Stay Motivated:
I like the way I look in the mirror these days. Additionally, I've been off blood pressure & asthma medications for almost a year--seems there was a direct correlation with elevated weight and health issues. Being med free is almost enough to keep me focused. Establishing new fitness goals is also motivating.
BB Accomplishments:
Eating clean since Nov. 2007. Getting weight down within a manageable range. Wearing a bikini this summer & looking good because the dimples are gone:)Buying a pair of size 6 pants for the first time in my life--seems like I was always a 12. Participating in two NPC figure competitions. My kids talking about me to their friends, "my mom's a body builder".

To write and publish informative fitness articles that inspire others.
Goal (Long):
It is my hope to encourage & motivate others to live a healthy lifestyle. In addition I want to gain lean muscle mass in the delts and lats area; widening the v-taper & narrowing the lower back & glutes.
"K", has been a tremendous source of motivation and encouragement to me. It is because of her long distance cheering that I had the courage to compete. She is an up & coming leader in the industry and the one I look to for the "figure comps happenings". Her blogs are transparent, informative, and at times funny. I aspire to be the athlete that she has become. She is "undeniably" a champion.
I am not ready to compete as a bodybuilder--my adductors aren't defined and my hamstrings are a little too fleshy b/c I haven't done enough cardio. Part of me wants to compete next week in the master's figure instead, but I am not at my best so I'll have to get over it and let it go. This comp...
Hey JC thanks for the add, you look great. You have made some amazing progress. Keep inspiring, and being a role model for others showing them how to live healthy and look great. Best of luck at your next competition, take care! :)
Hey I just recently returned from the "Olympia Week" look for my series of Blogs about my experiances (Coming Soon) in the mean time check out my Blog "A Suit of Armor made of Muscle!" and have a Great weekend!
As the weekend is almost upon us I would like to leave you with the words of Sir Winston Churchill "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts" I hope in this reflection you find all your best. Respectfully Thomas
Well the more I think challenging them the more I think it should remain a fantasy... after all you might be drawn into a pointless conversation during your workout and that's never fun!
I like your progress pics. You've come a long way. Nice work.
