"I plan to compete in November for the first and only time so I'd look & feel like I belong on the stage with other competitors. I'd also like to have fun in the process."
I've done weight training on/off for a number of years. I used to work out so that I could eat whatever I wanted, but now I have to monitor my eating habits and work out b/c @ 40+ the metabolism changes. In March 07 shortly after I began dating a body builder I felt self conscience and wanted to improve my overall figure. However, I got serious when I began working with a trainer Nov. '07 b/c shaping up is now a priority.
Why I Love It:
I like the feeling I get when I have trained hard. It's also a great stress reducer.
How I Stay Motivated:
I like the attention and feeling a sense of accomplishment. My trainer is also inspirational. Additionally, this website is terrific b/c there are several women over forty with fabulous figures.
BB Accomplishments:
Eating clean for 10 months. Getting weight down within a manageable range. Wearing a bikini this summer & looking good because the dimples are gone:)

I was working out, but eating whatever so the workouts only minimized the damage.
Post Muscle Tech, I've been eating my share of carbs, especially peanut butter. It's time to wean myself off. I'm about 148 lbs and looking to drop 10 lbs. I'm proud of the progress in my hamstring area. My legs are stronger and more muscular. It's time to learn how to pose &...
I plan to compete in November for the first and only time so I'd look & feel like I belong on the stage with other competitors. I'd also like to have fun in the process.
Goal (Long):
I ultimately want to stay fit. It is my hope to encourage & motivate others to live a heathy lifestyle. I decided to prep for my first and probably my last figure competition just to give myself a new physical challenge and to have an opportunity to wear 5" heels again:)

I've been feeling crankier than usual this week. I reduced my starchy carbs by 70% so I can lose this fat. Perhaps the consequence for low carbs is low tolerance for nonsense. For example I was in Manhattan on Sunday and broke my umbrella because I hit a car--this driver almost hit my daughter...
Oooh, is there a link to the article? I am trying to read everything I can. Yeah, placing the stones is nerve wrecking BUT it's fun. I am put more stones on my bottoms and I am going to randomly add some to the top--just some small ones. I ordered a bejeweler that is supposed to make this easier, I'll let you know if it does. How are you feeling?
My celebratory meal is steak and potatoes. But that is it for me. Those competition rebound stories have me scared straight! LOL! Thanks about the suit. I'm in the process of putting more stones on it, now. And my 4 year old is gluing stones on her swimsuit with Elmer's.
Hi JC...congrats on deciding to do a show. Which show did you pick. Oh...I read your blog about figure websir=tes. BeverlyInternational.com has lots of good diets and info posted.

I hear you. The school I work at is year-round, but we started working at 9 so I took advantage of 'late' workouts. Now, I get up and eat at 4:15-30 to be ready to workout at 5. It's nuts, but I love it--most days.
Hey how have you been! Your rock-climbing picture is amazing--Look at your shoulders! Yeah, it's been challenging balancing everything and there are certainly things that I wish I could do alot better, BUT I enjoy this challenge. The cost is shocking but between e-bay, lidia conti for suits, and a few miracles it's been good.
I've been doing the carb cycling but have yet to try a deplete. The first two cycles took some getting used to. Now, it's fine. I've cut my calories, now, so I'm getting used to that.
