How I Started:
I started working out after a year in school after my knee surgeries. I was in a lot of pain in both knees as well as in my back. I was a poor college student and did not eat very nutritionally. My body was suffering and I was in pain a lot. I knew that I needed to develop my quads and back muscles in order to strengthen my body to relieve the pain. I decided that I would join a gym and then began going between 5-7 days a week. I have since been able to maintain my knee's health as well as my whole body. I am healthier when I work out and feel more energetic. I tend to experience pain somewhere in my body when I am not consistent with working out.
Why I Love It:
I love feeling strong and being able to not be held back, from playing with my daughter, or playing sports with other people, or doing physical labor. I enjoy the confidence that I feel when I am in shape, with being able to do so much as well as confidence in not feeling embarrassed by my body or limitations.
How I Stay Motivated:
My body tends to hurt without regular exercise. I always try to do basics at home, so when I cannot go to the gym, such as lunges, arms, etc. It is not much but it is something to keep my body moving, clears my mind and helps with flexibility.

Goal (Long):
I want to run a marathon and meet my previous goal of 1 mile in 8 minutes or less by May 2009. I want to develop strength in my upper body and tone up all over. I want to drop approximately 15 pounds and regain my energy and eating habits. I want to be active and energetic so that I can go on hikes and do other forms of cardio without losing breath so easily. I have always wanted to compete in body building competitions as well as power lifting. I want to confidence of being comfortable with my body and being a role model to others around me. I want to bench 75 pounds in 6 months and leg press 430 (previous highest weight was 425). I want to drop the belly I have and show other moms that you can have kids and have a nice tummy!
