HOW I STARTED:

At 15 years old, I saw my brother going to the gym and developing tone. He was hitting the weights hard and I sparked some interest. I went as a guest one day with him and ever since then I got hooked! I started going everyday doing the circuit machines and then a trainer introduced me to the free-weights. I loved it! After 2 years of working with a trainer, I went on my own and started reading and researching working out. I loved it and wanted to learn more about it. Then, when I was 19years old, I met some powerlifters who took me under their wing and taught me the squat, benchpress, deadlift, and other basics of bodybuilding. They saw how strong I was and continued to push me. I learned a lot from them and will never forget the grueling workouts that I went through. I was always a strong, athletic girl playing softball down to doing gymnastics, dance, and cheerleading. Thus, I always had that athletic physique which made lifting weights even easier to build muscle. In my 20's I had two friends who always competed in bodybuilding. For a couple of years I have always went to their shows. They pushed me to compete because of my great genetics for muscle. In 2001, I had a taste of what it was like to be on the bodybuilding stage. I loved the experience and was addicted ever since then!

WHY I LOVE IT:

I love bodybuilding because it keeps me focused, on a strict regimen, and just makes me feel so good. I love pushing myself to the limit and feeling the pump in the muscles. I love being strong and feeling the high of doing cardiovascular work. I keeps me disciplined and I love the results of having a strong, toned body that makes me proud of the hard work and training that I do.

Change of mind

In the last couple of weeks I have gone through a lot of stress. First, my hamstring strain, second, my car died and I had to get a new one and third, I am recovering from getting sick. I had a fever and felt weak and nauseous.  All this time I am trying to diet and train.  A lot of stress made me sit back and think about things.  My head has not been into dieting for the show.  I always love training but I think my body is tired of dieting.  It has been since 2005 since I have had a full 1 year off-season.  Since then I h...

I have decided to start dieting for the Team Universe show in July.  It was hard to start at first but now I am getting used to the diet.  However, I have had a set back. I strained my hamstring which means I have to rest it.  That means no leg training and no cardio!  It hurts and I am getting ART treatment on it right now. I am putting heat on it.  Every time I start training for a show I get some sort of setback.  I will overcome it and do more therapy and hope to be back in gear soon.  Will see how it goes....

Still Deciding

It is the middle of winter and I am trying to get motivated to train.? I took this week off from working out. My body needed the rest since I have been going hard all year. It's been a while since I took some time off.? I am still going back and forth in my mind if I want to compete this year.? I have been competing consistently since 2006. The last time I took off from competing (since I started in 2001), was 2004-2005.? Now I am facing the decision of whether or not I want to go through the grueling process of contest prep.? I have to say, for the first time, I am not feeling it this year.?...
