I worked out a lot in undergrad after realizing I had put on the freshman 20 my first semester. Once I started lifting, I put on a significant amount of muscle, but never lost all the fat I had gained that first semester because I didn't have the motivation to watch my diet. During my first year of graduate school, I slacked off and didn't lift at all, so I gained an additional 10 lbs. But by my second year of grad school, I regained my motivation. I got back into lifting, and actually started dieting. With in 7 months, I gained back all of the muscle I had as an undergrad but lost 20 lbs of fat.
After competing in my first show in June 2009, and placing 2nd in figure, I've now set my goals higher; I want to reach nationals!
Why I Love It:
I enjoy lifting because it makes me feel good about myself not only when I'm lifting but the results I get from it are pretty amazing. I love watching my body transform week after week.
How I Stay Motivated:
I don't need any motivation to lift or much to make myself do cardio. Dieting on the other hand is another story. As long as I set a goal, I do everything in my power to reach it, and that's motivation enough.
BB Accomplishments:
2009 Alamance County Body Building and Figure Championships: 2nd Place Figure
I want to compliment you on your exceptional physique. It must have taken an enormous amount of hard work to achieve it, not to mention the drive and determination required and you are to be congratulated. Not many women are willing to pay the price required to develop it. You are a great inspiration to so many others. Stay strong, focused and determined and may God bless.
Remember: Keep perspiring and inspiring!
naah....am a software analyst/project manager in a Telecom firm...still is tough but well at least now i can manage my own time...not dictated by class timings...hws ur dissertation going?
well thanks for those words..I see you are a Ph.D student so you must really know what you are talking about..with all those crazy hours needed for the research work...am a double masters (which was also a time when i had difficulty in keeping fit).So kudos to you for keeping at it,i know its diff...stay in touch
I don't think it's a gender thing as much as a mindset thing...i have no one to impress unless i'm on stage in a show physically, so i could care less if i get to 18% or so when i'm bulking...as long as i'm getting strong as hell, i'm good

Thanx for accepting the add .Am a software engineer who used to
bodybuild but sadly work took over life and nowadays don't get to train
that often.Am hitting the gym again now, lets see where that takes
me.Always admired those who stuck it out and achieved their goal, and
am especially partial to women who are fit and attractive.I
congratulate you on spectacular success of a body that you have and
hope that you stay happy doing what you like.Let's keep in touch.
