When I Started:
Mar, 2007
How I Started:
I started lifting in March 2007 as a bony kid trying to bulk up before prom night. From then on, I was hooked. I then gained 18 pounds in three or four months. However, I stopped for a year to focus on boxing and then came back to lifting on July 2009. Getting started all over again in lifting has helped me regain the muscle mass I lost while training for boxing. The gains are awesome now that I'm back with the iron!
Why I Love It:
Bodybuilding is a science, art, and life-changing sport in one package. Bodybuilding has helped so many people overcome their physical and emotional weaknessess regardless of the person's lifestyle, religion, or fitness level. I find that simply amazing. There's also nothing as primal as lifting cold iron to grow into a beast! It's also a sport that you literally have to live, eat, and breathe 24/7. To me, bodybuilding is not a hobby, it's a lifestyle. I love being immersed in something I am passionate about everyday.
How I Stay Motivated:
I get myself going headstrong for my goals because I know that I will never reach them if I don't go for them. I believe that to grow into a beast, I must train like one. I've also got a goal that makes me work even harder. I hope to set an example, showing everyone that it takes discipline, knowledge, guts, and outright passion to succeed at whatever you set your mind to.
More muscle mass while maintaining speed, flexibility, and agility.
Goal (Long):
I want to fully develop and thicken the chest and v-taper of the back. I want to thicken the front portion of the trapezius as well as my hamstrings, quadriceps, and calves. I'm also working on the definition of the lower abs. I also want to increase raw explosive strength while staying agile, flexible, and fast.
Now this is a dude I can relate to! Just like him, I was asthmatic and engaged in intense sports. He also happens to have boxed in his teens like I did. I can also relate to how he deals with people putting him down, then he just brushes them off and does his thing. He really inspired me to pursue my goals, leaving the naysayers behind. This guy walks his own path never minding the obstacles he faces. I'm honored to be in the Super Human bodygroup with him.
My mom's sister with this condition passed away at an early age, so it's amazing for me to see someone with the same condition getting stronger each day. I really believe it takes guts to build your body specially with a disability you have no control over.
About 8-15. I like to stay a bit heavy on the weights to pack up on mass, so these reps allow me to do that with proper form. For warm-ups or finishers, I often stick to 20 reps.

How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
Usually no more than 1 minute. Pretty much, it helps build my endurance specially because sports like boxing require short rests with explosive energy bursts. What do you think about people who "grunt" loudly while working out? Do you do it?
I don't grunt. Excessive grunting is distracting. Short grunts when a dude is exhausted is perfectly alright.

I've heard before that soy was high in the phytoestrogens genistein and daidzein, naturally-produced plant estrogens which can deter muscle development and masculinity. As we know, testosterone helps us build muscle and estrogen prevents this kind of growth. But I found out while reading...
*note: It doesn't necessarily mean that I use all these exercises in one workout. I also mix up these exercises with some others I may have not listed. I do mix up training certain body parts with others. Here are some eercises I typically do:
Things are going pretty good. Put up 250 on bench 8 times pretty easily yesterday so was happy about that. Still looking for a Muay Thai or just decent kickboxing school in my area, and it seems there are none with real discipline.
Yeah..it will be a interesting fight. I don't know...Flyod had excellent defense, you just can't hit the guys. But Manny trains hard, is quick and is a warrior. Flyod is finally fighting a fighter that's in their prime...it's going to be good!
Wow man nice progress. Looks like every single pound you put on was pure muscle. Still look like 8% BF or less. You got me even more motivated to be 10% BF or less by beach time next year.
Things are good this way. I just posted a recent pic..still bulking. You're looking solid in you newest progress pic. Looks like you're starting really fill out and great muscle definition..keep it going! Manny and Floyd are going to get it on! It should be a good fight...who you taking?
thanks, though I've been hovering just above 200 pounds for 2 weeks now...I have to break through that barrier to get down below 190, and i have 5 weeks to do it.
it's going great,it's winter time for snow! glad to hear your doing well. for protein? let's see, from what I use, I like to mix proteins mostly from OptimumNutrition, BSN, MuscleTech, MuscleMilk. You could try the higher calorie proteins (not weight-gainers) but something like MuscleMilk, that has 320 calories! Also eat real food, remember that those shakes/protein only help you're progress to your main goal.
